    Midfield

A lot of chat about keepers, McDonald, Faddy. Everyone happy with Lasley, Person or Lietch in centre mid? Big problem last season for us, season before too if we're honest.
Unless our tactic is going to be 4 2 4 I would hope the next signing will be a central midfielder, or even better 2... A grafter and a crafter.
He's already got 2 keepers, good enough or not we can't afford a 3rd, that's daft. We have 4 strickers, healthy for competition and injuries. No place for McDonald now, he had his chance. Personally would have preferred him to Clarky.
Midfield has got to be priority.

I'd prefer a decent keeper over a midfielder I think. We have Ainsworth, Johnson, Pearson, Lasley, Leitch. No doubt one of the strikers we signed would fill in at midfield as well, just like skippy did against Rangers. In an ideal world we could sign more players because no doubt we could do with them, but I think a keeper should be priority.

Lasley is now too old and too slow to see us through the season the manager will need to address it before the season starts.

Sorry to disagree but with the defence solidified what we need is a sizeable and commanding shot-stopper to give them confidence. A quality keeper gives a whole team confidence - ie Ruddy, Randolph. Neither Dan nor Long are going to do this. Our new goalkeeping coach I'm sure will be scouring the market for one as we speak. We have got the creative midfielders - Marvin and Lionel will tear most teams in the SPL to pieces

Fair enough, but we have 2,keepers. Are you going to get rid of 1? Forgot about another keeper, like it or lump it he's not going to bring in a 3rd goaly, I would hope not anyway. Playing guys out of position didn't work last season not sure it will this one either. Moore isn't a central midfield player nor is Ainsworth or Johnstone. If you feel that we can improve as a team by going through a full season with Lasley, Leitch or Person as our only central mudfielders then fair play to you. We'll need to hope the defence is a lot better as they will be kept busy.

We need to bring in 3 players: a first choice goalie; a midfield grafter and a midfield crafter.

Keith Lasley needs to step aside and be used sparingly to be replaced by a mobile robust physical type who can do the donkey work and protect our central defence. Do that and our goals against column will look considerably better.

We also need a bit of craft in the engine room.

We really could do with 'Steve Jennings' type in midfield. Too often last season our opponents were able to pick up all the 'second balls' in midfield and run at our defence, either outnumbering our guys or, if the fancy took them, have a potshot from distance. Keith can't be a 90 minute player now;reinforcements are needed. From the market we have to operate in, Scott McDonald might, if he fancies a midfield role, be a decent acquisition. He is also still a complete nuisance to opposing defenders. I wouldn't mind if he came back.

Midfield cover is definitely required. Lasley will have to be used sparingly this season as his legs are starting to go and i don't see Skippy coming in to play in a midfield role. I'd say another centre-half is required along with a dependable number one keeper (definitely not George Long) and one or perhaps two central midfielders, because if injuries hit in midfield we are in real, real trouble.

Apart from acquiring a decent keeper that is the single most important thing we could do to stiffen our defence.

I'm a bit confused about the need for another centre back. We already have 4, maybe 5 - McManus, Laing, Kennedy, Chalmers and Reid (if he ever reappears) can all play there.

IMO Leitch worse than Carswell and a wee poseur, thought would have been released. We urgently require to address our midfield and Dorans(?) from Caley perfect as would return of Jennings or ask Lasley to play this role as phish playing attacking mid role (goals as rare as a virgin Mega Bar)
