I think it very much depends on your circumstances. I live outside UK so it is my only way of having live broadcasts and next day videos of Forest highlights, so for me it is well worthwhile.
I hope the quality improves this season, but often the difficulties are due to internet reception outside UK.

just wondered if extended highlights would be worth it, do they ever play whole matches??

I use it and now it is hd it is well worth it.
It was just ok before hd and you get 15 mins highlights from midday the next day and allso videoes from the arcives, I say anyone thinking about it go ahead do it
