Talk about stating the obvious. I don't need Jenkins and co to tell me that Lapping was a fraud and his scheme was all about asset stripping - it was completely (and classlessly) self evident.

You have to ask - why this statement and why now?

I reckon it's because the big announcement (the one that will make Moorlad feel extremely foolish) is closer than some fans may think. Distance yourself from one suitor because you're about to jump into bed with another...

Yes I think that is right, I've never understood why so many fans have thought the billionaire talk was a fabrication. It has always seemed to me like it has to be true because nobody would go to such lengths to make up such a load of nonsense if it wasn't true.

Even now that Lapping has been exposed by the club's lawyers there are still people who think that everything Jenkins and Nixon say is a lie and everything that Lapping says is true. What Lapping did was clever in some respects, he curried favour with fans by talking freely on the other forum and many fans have believed every word. It's not always wise to believe the man who has the most to say!!

Lapping denies the claims made in the statement, he even labels them libellous. I would say to him, if they truly are libellous then let's see him make a legal challenge. He won't do it though because he will lose. He openly admits in his response to the statement that not all of the £1.26m pledged was ready to be transferred. Well

Best interests of the club? No.

    Best interests of themselves? Yes.

Just because I thought the Lapping scheme was a horrible thing, it doesn't mean any other investment / takeover will be any better.

We have to hope that the new investor is willing to pay what it takes to get rid of Jenkins and his cronies otherwise we'll be stuck with them forever. There are two possible scenarios. Either someone comes in to facilitate Blue Yonder or someone comes in and stumps up the cash they've been hoping to pay themselves due to Blue Yonder. I don't think they're making the Billionaire up, for relatively little investment you could make a handsome return by making us a successful club...

I don't see it quite the same as you guys. It's fair to say that Lapping has never had the money in place but I doubt he ever said he did, what he said many times was that he had pledges of funding and was confident he could put the expected figure in place once a prospectus was in place. He would never have actually been able to force any change until money had changed hands. For example, I could buy a ferrari if I had the money. I could go to the dealership and talk about buying one just as the salesman could discuss selling me the ferrari, but until I actually stump up the cash I won't get . What I liked about it was that it would sideline the gruesome twosome and perhaps bring in a more forward dynamic to the operation of the business. Is this the more likely reason the plug has been pulled? If they had real reservations why have they not actually released them into the public domain? You can't be sued for telling the truth or offering facts? Asset stripping? There really

Piggy: Biff Barker got to the bottom of this long before you did on this messageboard.

He proved long ago, Lapping had always working for the secret London Supporters Branch's move to take over the club for its assets.

Assets that would be used to promote and maintain their expensive Liesure Class lifestlyes in the Greater London area.

    What's new?

I think I'd prefer a Vincent Tan to a Jenkins or a Lapping, especially if he refurbished Brunton Park into a 25,000 capacity stadium and made us an established tier two club.

I don't get why people are so set against foreign owners anyway. We live in a global society these days - and if you look at clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Bournemouth Leicester etc etc - foreign money has taken them all to places above and beyond their wildest dreams.

Yes, I take the point about Jenkins and Co. acting out of self interest but on this occasion their act of self interest has indirectly been in the interest of the club in preventing Lapping getting his deal pushed through.

I also have no issue with foreign investment if it has the effect of improving the club's fortunes. Those who are keen for the club to be in the hands of local people should be reminded that we have had local ownership for some time now and we've all had a gut-full of that. Lapping's scheme would have been no better than the current set-up because the monies being pledged weren't exactly mind-blowing and what would have happened when that money ran out? More of the same!!

No mate, I won't feel foolish, I'll be on the board, and the other board to admit I was wrong, and who knows, I might even be glad to have been wrong.

I think we're seeing this a bit differently, I think what is happening isn't a billionaire investor willing to put money in. I think it is Nixon and Jenkins having employed somebody to tout us round possible interested parties. They nay well have just got a hint of interest a month or so ago, but nothing has come of
