Report from Carlisle News and Star...............................

Blend of Carlisle Utd's unwanted, hopefuls and trialists fail to deliver sparkle.

Carlisle United 1 v 2 Queen of the South
A few more clues as to Keith Curle’s selection for the big League Two kick-off were offered on the training pitch behind Brunton Park yesterday, as a United second-string – featuring transfer-listed players, hopefuls and trialists – were beaten by Queen of the South.

The behind-closed-doors game included all five of those Curle has made available for a move, suggesting there will be no immediate change in their status with the new season just three days away.

There were also outings for the first-team players who will still be hoping to make the cut for Field Mill.

Did appearances in this game for Steven Rigg and Kevin Osei, for instance, mean they will be overlooked for the senior stuff on Saturday?

    We will soon find out.

Elsewhere, there was a new and distinctive fig
