I actually think this board has had a mini-Renaissance recently. A lot of that has to do with the variety of subjects that are discussed.

Jolly - think of these threads as a way for you to release your tension. Unload your pent up emotional frustration. If you were denied the chance to off load on here it would happen somewhere else with a more harmful outcome.

Perhaps I'm at a bit of a disadvantage because I've never been to Ukraine, Syria or any other place that our armchair political experts have apparently been to.

Been to Kos though, it used to be a nice place before the invasion.
