    Fair result for me today...

We started very brightly.. Bossed the first 20 mins or so but no end product. Oxford got into it, Burgess gave a stupid free kick away. We never cleared it, 1.0 down. Somehow after Jones' great couple of saves, then our defence freezing, we survived on the stroke of half time. So nearly 2.0... Game over for me if we had have gone in like that.
Couldn't see a goal coming in the 2nd, not surprising as we'd never had one shot by then let alone on target. Then McGurk, who PfcinCov and Corky will confirm that I've said is useless , scores a wonder goal out of nothing. 1.1. We then take over, I really thought we would win. Bennett who drives me nuts, had a shot charged down (the only other shot we had that I can recall). However Doyle, having got one stupid booking, gets another, off he goes. No complaints from me on the Referees decisions. As for Doyle, as a Senior Pro that is not good enough and he'll miss the trip to Bristol Rovers.
It could have cost us dearly, however with Tubbs

Can't argue with any of that LdB. Great to meet up with Kitey, PFCinCov and GeoffP for the first time. Also BlueChimes for informing me of the difference between a trumpet and a bugle.

Strangely a Pompey fan that closely fits Kitey's description was sat behind the dugout with the two Oxford mates who brought me to the game. I wonder.

Finally on a negative note for the eye-popping, rent-a-gob in the row behind us - nobody doubts your passion mate but do us all a favour and tone down the language and volume a notch in future. The family with the 10 year old daughter stood in front of you were there to enjoy the game as well.

Also take note there may soon be a New Trumpeteer appearing soon. Ask GP

Sounded like a point was well earnt taking into account the lack of goal scoring opportunities created and the sending off! I tip my hat to those that made the trip to Oxford......sounded like a home game on the radio!!

Agree with the other posters on here that it was a fair result. As per usual we had more of the ball and played some pretty, passing football but not much end product. 1 shot on target isn't really good enough (but what a shot it was!)
Good to link up again with Corky, LDB and meet PFCin Cov, BC and GeoffP. By a wierd coincidence the Pompey fan matching Kitey's description sitting with Corky's Oxford mates was in fact Kitey !!! (I hadn't realised that I had given myself away as a Pompey fan)

You can't imagine the detective work it took for me to resolve that one Kitey. It was probably the IoW accent that was the giveaway.

And BC - a bugle doesn't have valves.

Corky - Looks like Trumpets will be your specialist subject when you appear on Mastermind
