    kenwyne jones

Apparently our major target for January. Thoughts?

That would suggest to me Lambert 'intends persisting' with rhodes, hoping a target man partner will bring out the best in him.

To me, I think Rhodes is unsaleable due to Barry white not permitting it. Smacks of interference in football matters to me. Not healthy.

IMHO Kenwyne Jones is a dreadful player...o.k.if you want to get relegated........worse than Chris Brown and possibly more overweight.........to quote John McEnroe "Man you cant be serious"

Did help Bournemouth over the line last season though, so is proven effective at this level.

I can only assume you want someone more mobile alongside Rhodes?

Pace for me alongside Rhodes someone who can actually be consistent and injury free.

Pacy strikers aren't known for hold up play and we know Rhodes is shyte at it.. Wouldn't work.. Has to be a target man.

Interestly I'm hearing tonight that its become known from within the club that Lambert doesn't feel Rhodes is irreplaceable, far from it in fact. Watch this space on that one as I believed strongly that bowyer felt the same and would have sold and replaced but for venkys. If the venkys do the same to Lambert it could prove a very short managerial reign if he construes it interference.

To sell somebody you need a buyer
The value we have placed on Jordan Rhodes will not have teams chomping at the bit
for every game he fails to score his value stagnates or drops.

If allowed, I still would try to flog him to boro and try to get Nugent as part of the deal. That would be a double bonus as IMO Rhodes would FCK up boro while Nugent strengthens us.

I blame Rhodes for us never challenging for a top 6 spot and I blame venkys for forcing him on us. In that respect, I feel for bowyer too as he never got the chance to have his choice up there. We'll never know what kind of difference that made.

Ok first of all recently I have felt he has disappointed but to blame him for us not getting 6th place?????very strange suggestion
as for the swap there is no chance of this happening
Boro cooled their interest on Rhodes and went for Nugent who they claimed was their number one choice
I think Rhodes will come through this lean spell.

I couldn't care if he starts scoring again, as even when he does, we are weaker as a team(than we could be)for his presence. My view has never altered on this point in all the time he's been at the club.

I really am not a fan of the guy, Gordon strachen knows his stuff clearly.

Well one thing you are conveniently overlooking is his injury-free appearance record. He does the most difficult thing on a football field very well i.e.scores goals. Without the goals of Jordan Rhodes we would have been relegated the first season Gary Bowyer took charge(not Bowyers fault after what he was left with).

The league is littered with non-scoring target men, some of whom are injury-prone and on far higher wages than Chris Brown(reportedly on £10,000 a week). In Bowyers defence,he worked well within a tight budget bringing in Gestede,Cairney & Evans. To buy Kenwyne Jones is crazy IMHO a bit like trying to waste money !!
