Just reported on Talksport news. Following 18 month battle with cancer. Gutting.
That was a shock to wake up to.
RIP Bowie
RIP David Bowie.
There's a star man waiting in the sky.
Rebel Rebel.
RIP David
A genius and a big loss. Just watched the video for his latest song Lazarus, from the album Blackstar. Still had it even in his late 60s. A quite haunting song/video and only released a few days ago.
R.I.P. David Bowie.
This should receive as much coverage as Michael Jackson. I know it won't cos he's not American and that's the world we live in. He's a true musical legend and one of our own. Bowie isn't really from my era but his music means far more to me than all the new *bleep* put together. One of my true heroes
Just like he orchestrated his life he has now orchestrated his death, releasing his latest work on his Birthday a few days ago. Reminds me of Jonny Cash a little, releasing a video showing him in obvious ill health singing his last song.
Agree TMiller.
He certainly falls into the category of being able to remember where you were when you heard of his passing.
Yes, I heard the sad news at 7 this morning on radio dee-daa while I was driving and it really shocked me because I didn't even know he was ill.
I liked most of his music and my favourite was his Ziggy Stardust period.
His latest album was released on his birthday, last Friday apparently, and was written knowing that he was going to die (similar to Freddie Mercury/Queen's last album) and has very emotional lyrics.
He'll be very sadly missed. R.I.P. David.![]()
Damn! Now I'll NEVER finally get to see him live!
Last year I 'obtained' my 7 favourite Bowie albums as 24bit digital remasters;
Space Oddity
The Man Who Sold The World
Hunky Dory
Ziggy Stardust
Aladdin Sane
Pinups
Diamond Dogs
Classic albums every one.
Was there ever a better backing band than The Spiders from Mars? All Yorkshire lads too! So that's David, Mick Ronson and Trevor Bolder all now sadly gone - only drummer, Mick Woodmansey left.
Rest in Peace, David - and THANK YOU!

Shocked and stunned to hear the tragic news. Being about the same age I've followed his career all my life. A true genius and innovator who will live on through his music for generations. RIP David, thanks for the memories.
Didn't like everything he did, but massively respect his legacy.
I might be just getting owd but how many of today's acts and bands will have the same legacy as Bowie in 30 or 40 years time (Justin Beiber?! ).
He did sour his reputation by flirting with Fascism around 77 time, but lets face it with his gender and ***uality ambiguity he would be one of the first ones in the death camps! And he did put his to anti-Racist causes and events later in life.
