    I'm worried

I'm worried for the likes of Ainley, Kirk, Saunders, Bakayogo, Ng, and perhaps but hopefully not, Guthrie. Apologies if I've missed anybody out.
They have all started well in my opinion, considering the team that they have been thrust into.
    So why worried?
Because Baillie, Cooper, Mellor,Waters,Nolan all started off well also, again apologies for missing out others, and I'm sure there are! And look what's happened to their careers, after looking like first team players.
James Jones is also in danger of joining the group of stars that shone brightly for a few months....yes I know he is long overdue a rest.
I could even include Max Clayton in that list. By the time he got his 'big' move I thought he was a shadow of the player he should have been.
Any thoughts as to what a common factor in their coaching/development might be?
Not a difficult question me thinks.
Am also worried that this post takes me to 100, 'academy' status I think?
And we all know what some posters on this

I couldn’t agree more. There have been many youngsters who have played well when first coming into the team, but have not even kept their initial form going, let alone show progress. Far too many for it to be a coincidence. It seems the coaching and approach to playing the game, going from the academy to the first team, is not as coherent as it should be. A rare exception is Ben, but as a goalkeeper he is not suffering the same training process as the rest of the first team. These are youngsters, full of flair, technical ability and enjoyment of the game who are becoming shadows of their formal selves and I don’t believe it is just that they are competing at a level which is too high for them.

Does anybody look at the One Vale Fan site?
With a similar fan base (?) they have a seriously active forum...ok a load of sh*te being posted, but active non the less.
So, I started the thread at 4.06, well over 100 views, and one reply.
We complain about the board, manager being apathetic, but are we any better?

    Jimmy,
You've hit the nail on the head. I made these points to John Bowler in a private meeting at Gresty Rd back in Dec 2014, in relation to one of the players you refer to. I know of others who have had similar discussions. I'm afraid that Steve Davis lacks a number of skills in how to manage and cultivate young professionals. Leadership is largely about communication and you only have to listen to the gutter language that he uses from the technical area to realise that he his sadly lacking in this area. I have a lot of time for James Collins, who was promoted to bridge the gap between the academy and the first team. He is an excellent coach who has the respect of the youth players.

The reason is simple as D.Smith said the Crewe Academy is not as good as they think it is! And the players are not as good as they think they are! The facts speak for themselves, and many are at last waking up to it.

Good point. I've frequently wondered as to why OVF is such an active forum. I honestly think we have a number of fans who'd be happy whatever league we are in. The fizzled out protest today proved that. We deserve what we get. Our support is crap. It really is. There is no other professional club in the world who's fans would accept the absolute tosh served up to us for the past few years. There's no kudos in accepting it. The board must just laugh away. I bet Davis is sat at home with a bottle of red sniggering to himself. Arrogant arse that he is. The clubs back to be

I didn't go to the match but heard it on RS and thought the same thing that if the fans didn't join in with the protest of the small number that showed a great example of dissent against the last three seasons, then they really do deserve what is dished up.

On P&G afterwards even GM asked SD about the protests and he replied that he didn't want to comment only on the football which like a broken record gave a hard luck story. How about him saying he couldn't blame the fans or apologise for the last three seasons and especially this one and one win in 22 matches? How about him accepting he is not blame free for that? What's really annoying is how he talked about the pre season and next time etc as though the Directors and Bowler AND Gradi especially couldn't give a hoot about any of this farce!

One caller said how about the club thinking of the first team for a change instead of you know what? Peter Morse was just as bad when he said the club had no other options and the

Of course he wouldn't comment on the protest. No one with half a brain cell would. In fact, no one with half a brain cell would expect him to. And with the greatest of respect, I would suggest that Peter Morse has a much better insight than most about the way clubs in our position need to operate.

Shocking defensive performance once again today outweighs any positives from the game. Can't remember the last time we lost seven in a row.

Definitely will not be renewing my season ticket next season if Steve Davis remains as manager. It's sad it has come to this but it's the only way I feel he will be removed from his role.
