It stands a good chance that come the quarter final draw, six of the eight teams will be from The Premier League.
To me this is yet another 'helping hand' for the Premier League clubs and players to keep them fresher for the finale of the Greatest League In The World.

I wouldn't call this a test, more like a bullying tactic.

I'm all for it. I'd rather extra subs happen as I think they could potentially prevent more penalty shootouts.

If they are looking for things to do , how about addressing the problem of all in wrestling that occurs at every corner kick. The officials always seem to miss these incidents, and yet a slight nudge in the back that occurs on the halfway line will result in a foul and possibly a booking

I certainly agree with your comments about all-in wrestling at corner kicks, Stour. I find that a constant source of irritation and frustration when watching matches.

As for the extra sub, if it helps to resolve matches without penalties, then fine. Having been a fan of the game for 61 years, I will be very surprised if it makes much difference. A 'sudden death' arrangement with the match being decided by playing football seems a preferable alternative to penalties. This could be decided by the first goal scored after the end of full-time.
