We're out. Simple as that.
Always the positive LawSteelman,no better time than to play them than now. They totally lack pace at the back and provide we go there and have a go at them anything is possible. If on the other hand our manager decides to play the same way we did in the second half against Rangers by defending further and further back in our own half, then as you say LawSteelman we will probably be out.
We bent over and lost 7-0 to them not three months ago in a nothing end of season match, when their then manager was heading out the door and they had long since sewn up the league. Are we now, with pretty much the same squad going to go there and knock them out of one of the domestic cups when they'll already have their eyes on a treble? Somehow I doubt it.
We won't lose 7-0, I'm pretty certain of that.
We're clearly second favourites and will likely lose but Celtic have slipped up plenty in the cups recently.
Probably the hardest draw we could have landed but the cash will compensate.
Yip McGhee, and several others in the club will have already accepted their fate from this tie. This is one of those occasions where I don't even fully blame McGhee, as there will be a degree of acceptance and shoulder shrugging within the club that we are going to lose this tie and "so what? it's Celtic and they have huge resources bla bla bla, but at least we'll make money from it"...and while that is of course true, and Celtic will beat Motherwell nine times out of ten, the fact that we as a club appear to be happy to shrug our shoulders and accept that means that we have no hope whatsoever in this tie.
Again you may well be right and it is one of my biggest bug bears about team sports in Scotland, not just motherwell, we get our excuses in before a ball is kicked.. the too wee , too inexperienced blah blah scenario has us beat in our heads every time. Both the National Football Teams and Rugby teams are riddled with the "we learn and move on" attitude which is basically "its OK to lose we expected it no harm done.
One of the few times we didnt was the play offs at Ibrox, for al his failings Barraclogh seriously had it in their heads they could win. Even in the build up he didnt pander to the media and the "rangers will turn us over" mentality.

Absolutely and perhaps it's telling that an 'outsider' as Baraclough was, was able to oversee a comprehensive win over those two matches. For all he ultimately proved to be a major dud, we went into those two games and the perceived inferiority complex was nowhere to be seen and we duly dealt with a p1ss poor Rangers side. I am 100 per cent convinced that had McCall (especially) or McGhee been our manager going into either of those matches then we would have rolled over with barely a whimper, or at the very most endured a 'glorious failure' as we would have lost out one way or another.
