Anyone thinking of using rail travel from Meadowhall to Barnsley on 27th August, for the Barnsley v Millers championship match, be warned due to engineering work, trains are cancelled & a bus service is being used between Meadowhall & Barnsley.

Get on a coach, I'd imagine there will be a few on.
Not a problem getting there by car but can be a nightmare coming back
What I do is park up in Wombwell, plenty of buses going to Barnsley, do same when going shopping in mid week, no parking problems, bonus being having a bus pass.
Living in Swinton there is only one bus to Barnsley, that takes 50 minutes to Wombwell with the roundabout route it has, then extra 15 - 20 minutes into Barnsley.
You can not get a train direct to Barnsley from Rotherham, for Barnsley its a Meadowhall connection, when travelling on the normal service.
Reason I posted last night, was to clarify for people that there's a train service to Barnsley from Meadowhall, I didn't say it was direct from Rotherham.
In your OP you said it was a bus service to Barnsley, I don't know if you meant to put Rotherham, I was just trying to clear that up.
As you stated, there's no trains from Rotherham on that day. There is a rail replacement bus to Meadowhall showing as available.
I'm travelling from Derbyshire via Sheffield so no probs for me, I was just pointing out about the train from Meadowhall.
I've just tried editing above but wasn't quick enough, my time had expired
Just wanted to say to Ericslad, I'm not trying to be clever with you or anything, just trying to help out any fellow Millers using train, same as you.
Just reread my post and didn't want it to come across like that. It's easy sometimes with a post for it seem a bit offhand or whatever when you're writing stuff as opposed to talking face to face.
I was going to post about this disruption when I noticed it t'other day, but you beat me to it.
Wear summat distinctive at Barnsley and I'll get you a pint in, no hard feelings![]()

No problem MagyarMiller, what I was trying to get across was there is not a direct train service from Rotherham to Barnsley, of course you have to go to Meadowhall for the service, it seems we crossed lines in the subject. ( Forgive the pun )![]()
No worries mate, both trying to help fellow millers. We got there in the end![]()
