Kent are going to appeal on the grounds that Hants should have been relefated anyway, and that Kent, as Div 2 runners-up, should take their place in Div !

They have a point. In most sports when this situation arises the relegated teams are still relegated and the next best team in the lower division come up

Hants' Rose Bowl must be the worst county cricket ground to get to by public transport.... so I'd prefer Kent in Div 1 any day

So the ECB have put out to tender some of the test matches.
Durham have gambled on making a profit by buying one and hoping to sell out.

The match is played which in English conditions could be effected by rain, bad light or even a pitch that could see the match finish in 3 days all of which could see a reduction in ticket sales or refunds.

Durham lose money due to supplying a venue for the test match and ask for financial aid from the very body they've paid. The ECB then relegate Durham as a lesson to all.

Or have they just over stretched everything having made a profit on the test match?
