    Coyle sacked

Apparently after being unable to beat Manure..lol ....good riddance from a Rovers point of view, but a poor decision from a Clarets point of view. They should have let him finish the job off..

    Fatty Dunn to replace him..

This is the best news weve had all season, but why did it take so long?

Whilst Coyle can rightly be proud of the performance against Man.Utd it simply wasnt good enough when we have not been above 20th all season in the League.I dont expect miracles but this "Steve Kean mentality"of conceding 3 goals nearly every game, and the strikers have only to score 4 to get a win is just ridiculous.

All credit to the strikers Graham especially (but every one of them has been reasonable including Stokes ) for stepping up to the plate but they were given far,far too much to do to make a success of anything.

A more pragmatic manager who believes in sensible defending, setting up the team properly and better fitness levels irrespective of buying and selling is what is surely needed.....

Let's just hope we get lucky and get one!
My concern is that in this diminished time remaining they/he says the search starts! I would have thought the 'groundwork' would have been laid beforehand. Especially as yet again the support staff being dumped inclusively.

If not the double act of Johnson and Dunn it will be ainsworth
hope for survival but ultimately plan for league one
getting excited for rowett is like willing the lucky 6 numbers to roll in on a Saturday night
he wants a well run club we are not one of those.
correct decision to sack coyle a few months too late ala venkys.

In another note maybe the decision was made before the United game and they decided to show humility and give him the big game as the last hurrah.

I see what you're saying, Bob, but didn't we try that plan with Paul Lambert?

I love the statement: "By mutual agreement." So Coyle and Senior sat down over a pint and eventually came to the conclusion that this was the best solution? Yeah...right!
What is wrong with being straight, and saying he was sacked?

Coyle was always a peculiar choice, but we are in danger, again, of laying everything at the manager's door.
He has had virtually no money to spend.
The injuries to defenders have hugely hampered any attempt to create stability.
He has had more than his fair share of being on the wrong end of poor refereeing decisions.

I think it would have been sensible for him to go at the end of December. Now, it's just a gamble - another example, in fact, of Venky's pi**ing into the wind.
I really hope that this ISN'T "day one". Surely Senior has been doing some background work, so that there is a credible candidate waiting in the wings.
If we don't get an immediate "bounce" from the new man, what will we do then? I almost feel that if we lose to Burton, the slide will start to accelerate. Luckily, my predictions in football have a pretty poor record!
I think I would actually favour the Johnson/Dunn solution for now. At least we would have a sense of proper club-men in the trenches with the troops.

One thing that still puzzles me after all these years is that some fans still think a new manager can be some sort of messiah. Football "saviours" fail more often than they succeed.

Chairmen/owners do come up with some ridiculous decisions at times.
Not only did Coyle sound like a bad appointment at the time, surely hes done little or nothing to dis-prove this idea. And then when the inevitable sack happens its only after a cup loss to ManUre!!
