Been a long time reader on here and a sporadic poster on the BBS and made the decision to join here as it seems a far friendlier forum than BBS.

In the forces and live away but try to get to a few games a season!

Ref the takeover I'm trying to not to get too excited by it. I was apprehensive, as you look at the circus Birmingham became under Carsen Yeung, but after looking into Chien Lee and seeing what he did at Nice I've started to get excited. As long as the club retains its identity then I'm all for it. I feel we have to keep hecky, and the current recruitment policy we're using, I feel that if we can compete financially then, with the management we have, we will be able to push for that top 6. Players like Roberts, Hourihane, Scowen and Winnall were massive players for us and if we had the funds to keep them I believe we could've done something this year. As it is we've started better than I thought we would but I invisage us to finish in a similar position this season as we did last.

I don't see how we have much choice to be honest bigred .

Clearly and sadly given our owners health the club had to be sold to someone and given the way football is today we need investment to remain competitive at this level .

The days of local business men spending a couple of days per week at the club and clubbing together to pay for a match ball are long gone , the pencil and paper era is over .

Eventually the financial demands of this league will catch up with us and we will stagnate and become an Oldham Athletic and that's not good enough for me .

We owe it to the people who got this club up and running from the dark days of bottom of the 4th division and take this opportunity to grow and be succesful , the work started by Ernest Dennis , Allan Clarke , Norman Hunter , Rimmo , John Dennis and Danny Wilson will be in vain in my opinion if we don't .

If it goes tyts up then at least we've tried and there's nothing more to be said , I don't go along with the sooner be in league one with a local owner talk because whether you like it or not sometimes in life you have to go with the times , King Canute wasn't a smart cookie at all in my view .

Ah think it'll end in tears. We'll be left wi massive debts owing big wages on contracts and a rented ground on a travellers site near Donny while Mister Lee is puffing on a fat cigar drinking £100 a bottle malt laughing his c0ck off.

I'm in complete agreement with you pal (even if it didnt read like it!) We owe PC. Massive debt of gratitude but, regardless of his terrible illness, we need somebody with the capital to make us at least competitive in the league. Bouncing between L1 and the Champ isn't something I want to see and like you I don't buy into it either! As much as I enjoy our "plucky underdog" tag gaining a few scalps against bigger teams can only give me so much enjoyment. How I'd love to be looking at the team sheet on a Saturday and seeing which million quid striker we've left on the bench!! Hopefully the takeover is successful and we can get back to the prem. I'm old enough to remember the 97/98 season but not quite old enough to appreciate it!

I think it would be a mistake by the new owners to do things too quickly .

I'd like them to come in and get a feel for the club and see what is what , a big gong going off and too much too soon won't go down well in these parts .

I don't believe they are here to scratch around in the championship but at the same time there's no huge rush to make the PL , root and branch works for me .

Small steps and intelligent investment will suit me fine , I'd even go as far as a 5 year plan starting from where we sit today .
