You're right, but it's same with anything in life mate, ignore the ****er, it's irrelevant.
If critics have something to critique, you'll usually find it's most negative and with short term (often delusional) thinking.
This time the graduated writer chooses to grab 2 connective blocks and bang them together like a bairn... Simple visions.
However as we know, sometimes under Ashley the worst case scenarios have come about.
If Rafa's the man I believe him to be professionally then I don't think he'll be going anywhere until he's achieved something here.
I think the transfer window has been blown way out of proportion this time though.
I think who we have signed will surprise a few people but one of those won't be Rafa.
Yes he wanted a bigger budget but I think he's been well aware of our current limitations in the transfer market. They were just made even worse because of penfolds negotiations resulting in us not getting our targets (I'm sure not all of them were his fault because he has shown he can close deals tbf-I think it was mainly down to greed of the player/agent/club tbh and I agree with their stance on that). But he would have known what he needed to do, Charnley couldn't get rid of our players and Mike wasn't prepared to inject money into the squad so Rafa had to wait and in the end it wasn't enough/too late.
If Rafa wasn't looking with long term vision he wouldn't have gone into such depth with his project. He wouldn't be fielding a team with the average age of under-26.
He's trying to change the dynamics of the club from within- the structure and playing aspect- he's much more than just a football manager or coach. He has to be fair been given much more control than previous managers because of this.
All the players we have signed have been his choices, remember that.
And by that I mean he has still added 6 players to his squad and managed to let go of a fair few he doesn't want to boost his kitty for the foreseeable windows (obviously he'll benefit from tv revenue next season).
So if you think logically our squad IS stronger now.
We lost against the team who finished 2nd last season with 10 men and 2 injuries.
We lost against the same team who beat us 2nd game of the season last year... They didn't have many chances, we had more but were ultimately ****.
We lost a cup game with mainly our 2nd team
We battered the team who he's being linked with whilst not playing great and I believe that their squad is actually not as good as ours overall tbh even though those "ambitious" chairmen have chucked **** loads at it using various (failed) managerial appointments... They're in London but are the weakest out the lot in the prem in my opinion and they don't own their own stadium... They're on tick man ffs.
Atleast Ashley's aiming for positive progress with his methods long term (infrastructure/youth team/self-sustainability), aye he's definitely doing it for the money and it doesn't always benefit the club, but neither does buying a load of **** players for big money... We know about that. They've only had a couple of good seasons in ALL their efforts as chairmen, I know Ashleys ****ed up and oversaw 2 relegations but the point stands, they're not exactly ****ing upgrades man.
Forgetting the fat man, Rafa's got it good here, he knows that, the players are all behind him (barring the ones he wanted rid) and he's building a good young team with his own ethos behind it.
Why would he leave that and carry on someone elses project, which is further behind than ours, they just paper over their lack of business plan/preparation with big signings (that sometimes come off) and allow them to finish comfortably enough to keep on rolling the dice.
I honestly believe we're going to have a good season, the window hasn't changed that and I don't think it's changed Rafa's long term ambition with/for us.
