    Local talent

I don't argue with those who say that we should have strengthened in key areas. One thing that surprises and irritates me is that we cannot seem to produce any local talent to make it to the first team. Terry didn't cost Chelsea anything. How many clubs have to pay £14m for a striker born on their doorstep? There was talk of maybe signing Carrick before his career ends with Man U. A player from Wallsend. Where was Bobby Charlton from? Ashington. The only likely candidate is Armstrong who's on permanent loan. Is he good enough for the Premiership? Don't know because he never plays there. When our scouts are scouring Europe and further afield for new players maybe they should spend at least some time in Blyth, Wallsend, Cramlington or wherever.
