    Ollie McBurnie deal rejected

Barnsley Football Club have today received final notification from the English Football League that the loan signing of Oli McBurnie from Swansea City has been rejected.

The signing was announced on deadline day with the full belief from both Barnsley Football Club and Swansea City Football Club that the deal had been completed and Oli would be a Barnsley player for the 2017/18 season.

However, the administration process of the transfer was deemed to have not been met in order to allow the signing to be completed, leading to the EFL today confirming that the transfer has been rejected.

The Club are disappointed in the decision from the point of view of both Barnsley Football Club and the player, Oliver McBurnie.

Chief Executive Gauthier Ganaye has issued the following comment in regards to the decision today by the English Football League.

“We are naturally extremely disappointed, but we respect the English Football League’s decision and thank them for their communication throughout the process.

“Oli showed a huge desire to come and play for Barnsley Football Club which can only be admired and ultimately this decision will have the most impact on him. We are disappointed, but understand that although the player was identified as a significant target for the Club over two months ago, we were unable to try and effect the registration until the last moments of deadline day.

“We wish Oli nothing but the best of luck back at Swansea City in their Premier League campaign.”

Correct Roma . They've dragged their heels and fkd us and McBurnie about and left it too late

BFC could be criticised for putting most of their eggs in the McBurnie basket but there is a lack of decent strikers out there available. You'd expect better from Swansea

Swansea City can confirm that striker Oliver McBurnie will be returning to the club with immediate effect after the Football League rejected his loan transfer to Barnsley today.

Both clubs announced the transfer on deadline day in the full belief that the deal had been completed on time.

However, the administration process of the transfer was deemed by the EFL to have not been met in order for the signing to be confirmed and was today duly rejected after an appeal by Barnsley.

Oli will return to the Liberty Stadium and be available for all forthcoming first team and under-23 fixtures, with the possibility of another loan move for the Scotland Under-21 international reviewed again in January.

A Swansea City spokesperson said: “We are naturally disappointed for Oli having gone through the process, but we are pleased to have a player of his quality available again for both the first team and in a competitive under-23 structure.’’

Trouble wi BFC is that we adhere to the rules, financial fp etc, act swiftly and professionally when faced with saga like the Tommy Wright situation. Barry Taylor is involved with the FA but in what capacity?

We're not southern, wealthy or bent so we get fecked over. Same with Hume incident, the FA don't want to know.

Why has this taken a whole bloody week? It's a joke. Some pencil pushing prick has not only denied us a promising young player but also denied a promising young player an opportunity to laik league football.

Why couldn't they poke their toffee noses in when we signed Rigters or Conor Wilkinson
