Always remembered and loved by all fans especially from Derby, Forest and Hartlepool.
A legend in every sense of the word. May every succeeding generation of fans never forget the impact he created here and elsewhere. Suffice to say, Derby and Forest are what we are today because of him.
Rest in peace
Still the best goals to games ratio in English football I believe.
Given both are in Div 2. Clough would not be best pleased.
But it's true, in our clubs' history, there's a period of BC and after Clough.
Both could have just jogged along maybe even in the lower divisions, but Clough and Taylor set the standards, built up the fan base and imparted a legacy that requires each succeeding managerial teams have to, at the very least, be aware of.
All the sporting knights we've had I think only 1 or 2 can really measure up with him.
No doubt that, at his best, he was one of the greatest. How he'd have coped in today's 'climate' I'm not sure.
Was he better than the likes of Shankly, Paisley, Mercer and Fergie? I'm not sure about that either and we certainly shouldn't forget Peter Taylor's contribution.
Of all the managers around today I think Tony Pulis is amongst those who deserves the greatest respect. Tells it like it is in a Clough/Shanks like way but at a time when most of his players will be millionaires, cosseted by agents and protected by 22 carat contracts. All a very far cry from Derby in the early seventies.

What Clough and Taylor achieved was nothing short of miraculous and unlikely ever to be repeated. I agree about Pulis, for all his critics and there are many the guy has been successful in keeping a club in the prem on relatively few resources.
Unfashionable though it maybe to say it, Howard Kendall's achievements were fairly remarkable too.
