    Strawberry Place

Following on from Pats thread,on hidden secrets..
I think this aspect is going to play a prominent role,in the sale of the club..
I think it will either hinder our sale to such an extent that it totally f u cks it up,or sees Ashley in the dock(fingers crossed)
    Has anyone got the details?
When did we buy it ?
As far as I understand it was bought by the club for obvious reasons ie the extension of the Gallowgate..
Now it has been sold to Asleys property developement company for £5m.
Was it actually "up for sale" or was it just sold on the cheap from one of his companies to another?
    Is this even legal?

Might be wrong, Ash, but I don't think the club were associated with buying it at all. Think it was just Ashley on his own.

Problem is that if it's sold there's nowt else we can do to extend unless some genius architect can work out a way of developing a two-tier stand on the existing footprint of the East Stand.

Mind, an extension of the Gallowgate would only add about 6 thousand or so onto the capacity, you'd think, but would probably cost a prohibitive amount given how high you'd have to go and the logistical problems of going over the road. Think we're stuck at 52 000 unless we move.

    In regards to adding capacity.

I thought we had some stands as listed which meant we couldn't do anything with them?

The buildings behind the east stand are listed, the stand is not.

The club (before Ashley) bought the land from Nexus for £1 million. Ashley bought the club, the land came with it. He now has planning permission to build some hideous student flats there as a parting 'fack you' norvern cants !!!

if the Arabs buy the toon, they will want to re-name the stadium (which caused hell o when Ashley tried it - the difference being, there will be loads of wedge involved) they will also want to increase capacity as all the tip clubs will have 60k or higher capacities.

if they can't increase, they will move to a new stadium.

anybody who doesn't want any of this change, doesn't want the club bought off Ashley, as the oil rich, will want to maximise their investment.
