    If you could change...

...the result of any game-but just one game-which would it be?

Would you pick the 4-4 with Arsenal so that we won 5-4? One of the games against the mackems to halt their run before it started or put an end to it or the infamous play-off semi final? Maybe it would be an international game?? The Maradonna handball against Argentina?

Mine would be the one nil defeat to man u at home when Cantona scored. We had been all over them and Albert had hit the bar with a free kick just before half time. Would have won the league if we'd won that game. Hey ho...

Recently it would be the Leicester game - we lost it 1-0. It was Rafa's first game in charge.

Make it 1-1 or 0-0 so we got a point. Had we got that i think we'd of stayed up having got momentum from that, as it was it took a couple of extra games which was enough to kill us.

Generally. I'd of had us win 5-4 against Le Arse, what a game it would of been for that alone.

mine would be the last game of the season we finished 5th.
If my pissed memory is right, we drew 3-3 with Wigan, if we had won, it would have been champions league.
Just to see if the fat **** would have taken the plunge and went for it.

Wasn't far off, tbf. Ranger chested the ball back for Nolan who hit it just past the post.

It would probably be the 0-1 Man Utd in March 96 very closely followed by the Chelsea semi final as if we had won (which we really deserved) we would have had Villa in the final who were dreadful.

    Blackburn 2 Newcastle 1 in 96.
Batty scoring what looked like the winner until Graham Fenton scores two late goals.
Worst of all he was a sub.
Double whammy was, he is a Newcastle fan from Whitley bay.

I'd have went with Zippity's Cantona clincher that cost us the title but for me the Blackburn match was the biggest gut wrenching result that started the sickening cycle of demise.

However, being the conspiracy person I am. I still to this day believe that was fixed for Man Utd.
Ferguson selling players and bringing in the kids. (remember Hansen's " you never win anything with kids")....you do if you're Man Utd and everything works in your favour.
That's my one of many major irritants about the premier league in terms of set ups....but....well.....

Aye, Ghost, that's a good call that Blackburn game.

I watched it in the Tap and Spile in Shields with me two brothers. I just put me head on the table after the second and stayed like that for half an hour without moving.

Mentally, I've felt like that ever since.

Definitely the Man Utd game for me too. If we'd have beat them that day, and there were plenty of chances we should have put away, I think we go on to win the title.
