    Utterly pointless matches.

Games such as tonight against City are just a waste of everybody's time.

If a team can spend billions like City and sides like us are hamstrung by FFP even though we could only dream about spending a twentieth of what they spend then what is the point?

A system might as well be introduced where you don't even have to play them if you will accept a 1-0 defeat against your record,I reckon half the teams in the division would take up that option rather than risk an ass f King at their hands.

On nights such as these football feels completely pointless for sides like us.

I'm sure someone will mention the Bournemouth win at Chelsea but City are on another planet, especially at home.

If some of the other teams near the bottom have to play City later in the season probably be totally different situation as the League will be over & nothing to play for ,

At one point we had 19% possession, they probably give you 3% for having the bloody kick off.

It's like when we played shots in as kids, attack against defence.

A divisional match has to be more competitive than this one sided tripe.

City fans seemed bored of it. On the stream i watched, the camera panned on a bloke eating a pie for a whole minute and he left the pastry and put it on an empty seat next to him.
City's back 4,without wages and signing on fees, cost more than Peace sold our club for.

I totally agree with you. This was not an interesting match to watch at all. There was no drama, no tension, no entertainment. The crowd was just sitting there expecting the result to come without ever really getting warmed up. It was boring. Even the City fans were bored. The result was never in doubt. We hardly had a kick. Even their way of defending set pieces made the game boring because they played so far up the field that we couldn't lob it into the area and hope someone could put their head on it. Instead, we had no choice but to play it short and try to pass our way through the best midfield in the country. Good luck with that.
This is not a criticism of west brom who really could not do anything no matter how hard they tried. We had no choice but to wait for City to make a mistake, and they just didn't, at least not in any area that would let us exploit it with any venom. The only time we had a sniff was Sturridge's attempt very late when it was all over. Even then, they almost stopped him from getting a shot in at all.
City are obviously vastly superior to us but as a source of entertainment, its about as interesting as watching a Pulis team in full lockdown mode. I'm glad I don't pay money to watch that every week.

I decided not to bother with it last night. Didn't look for a stream. I knew what was going to happen and accepted the fact that if we didn't lose I'd be peeved with myself not watching.I recorded MOTD just in case. May not bother with it.

As I have posted before, why everybody is lauding Man. City I just don't know. When you have limitless funds, of course you're going to be the best team in the country. Where's the credit in that? You're 100% correct Mick, it was a futile game last night as it wasn't a question of what the result would be, but how many goals would City win it buy. Until we have realistic and fairly implemented financial restrictions the game in this country, as we know it, is doomed. In any sport, for it to be interesting and enjoyable to the public, it has to be competitive and clubs like Man. City, with little credit to themselves, are making this virtually impossible.

The current situation is unsustainable. The gap between the haves and have nots is only likely to get wider. The competitive game as we know it in this country is slowly (or not so slowly) being throttled and may not survive. Any right minded lover of football will see this.

If you think about it, whether you're playing at the local cricket club, local football or even a game of pool down the local, it's the element of competition that draws us to respective sports and pastimes. I also didn't bother watching a stream last night as I thought, What's the point?

City should be where they are as they have 4 of the worlds most expensive defenders and the worlds second most expensive goalkeeper although it was good to see UTD lose last night after the obscene cost of landing Sanchez. I read on the BBC site recently that City have spent more on defensive players in a 12 month period than 48 countries have spent on military defence. I think I'll be well tired of this circus before anything changes as it seems moronic to follow a team in a competition that they have no chance of not only winning but where staying in the competition is seen as success. I can see why non-league football is enticing people back in droves.
