    Robinson 50 up

The club tweeted yesterday with some stats on Robinson now he's hit the 50-game mark as manager.

46% win ratio - third best ever
1.48 goals scored per game - best since Davie Hay (81/82, which was the First Division)
1.18 goals conceded per game - best since Alex McLeish (which seems mind-boggling but there you go)

That's a truly remarkable record - even more so when you consider the absolute state of us when he took over.

I actually have a feeling that he will find the next bit even harder, though. His strengths are clearly in organisation, getting everyone working together and giving everything, which lends itself to solving defensive problems and getting a team from the relegation battle to safety. In contrast, his weaknesses seem to be a willingness to trust the 'footballers' in the squad to be good enough to win games by possession or creating, which would get us from midtable to chasing the top four.

So I suspect we may be in the middle of the pack for a bit, which is fine in itself, but the sort of football we play needs some blood and guts cup runs to keep the seasons going...if we find ourselves losing a 50-50 in the last 16 of the League Cup in summer, it could be a long, long autumn/winter and I think the grumbles about our style of play will get a lot louder.

I think we are actually better as a cup team at the moment. The last place teams want to come to at the for a cup tie would be Fir Park. We do need a bit of a ball player in the middle of the park but i don't think it's Robinsons style to have someone in there to play nice passes, he prefers a ball winner and a player that will get stuck in. All in all he's had a good first year as Manager and i hope it continues. It's also good to see us go toe to toe with the OF for a change rather than bend over and beaten before a ball is kicked.......Best defensive record since Alex Mcleish??????

I ask ... do you think Andy Rose performs either the above ?
IMO not a hope in hell and his style is to run around and point to others.
Get Grimshaw into the mid-field alongside Campbell and give him a run as the only way we'll find out.
