Jimmyjames (and the Vagabonds) very appropriate 'NOW is the time to set things right.' Sorry couldn't resist, but totally agree with your sentiments! Fail to prepare! PREPARE TO FAIL!
Seems a bit of a daft subject, but here's my take on it anyway.
I think we need to act NOW with a view to next season.
Punt Csaba for starters.
Get the manager IN NOW we want to start the new season off with. (my shout would be Yogi, as I see him as a Levein type who would do things his own way without interference and has proper contacts for players, not You Tube sensations).
Get him signing players he wants for the top league, not other clubs dead wood journeymen ready for League 1 or 2 football.
Pay the money required to get the right players for the Premier League to compete at that level.
AND....if we're not there, we will be making a very big statement to the rest of the Championship that our intention is to be there.
I think if the club act NOW, we'll at least sustain season ticket sales, who knows, with the right signings they may improve, AND we all know that even in the Championship if we were doing a Hibs or St Mirren (running away with it) we'd easily have home attendances of 6,500/7,000 every home game with a great atmosphere around the place.
And who knows, a good side may mean a good cup run and more income generated.
Plan for where you intend to be, not where you're stuck.

Agree 100% with the sentiment though Yogi would not be my choice.
My favoured option would be give Ellis chance to end of season. Sturrock mentoring. If Ellis does really well then give him the job. Who knows we might even get promoted and then it’s happy days 😃
Otherwise if Ellis does not show he is up to it then I expect Livi may have fallen short by then at end of season. Try and get Hopkin in in summer from Livi as a man for a rebuild and who knows this division well. He always seems to talk sense and is hard as nails which is probably what we need in this division.
Punting Shaba at this stage will gain us very little and cost us a lot of dosh much needed later on.
1) We are not getting promoted with this crop of players.
2) No incoming manager, irrespective of who he is, will alter item 1.
3) Most of the current crop will be evacuated from Tannadice at the end of the season. No need for any new manager to become familiar/frustrated with them.
4) A new manager will need to recruit nearly a whole team. Not a bad idea considering what we have.
5) A decision on Shab's should be left until the end of the season when it will likely cost us less, if we are to punt him. Seeing how bad we are under Shabs at the end of the season might work in our favour with any Shab's ousting move.
6) Any new manager at this stage is only going to be seeing out the season with a lot of frustration.
7) We will lose a number of season ticket sales if we don't punt Shabs now, but we are going to lose a lot anyway as results are unlikely to impress consistently enough to stave this off, no matter who replaces him. A lot of fans are a lot more cautious now about parting with their money and want to see massive changes before their hand goes in their pocket.
8) The ST situation has not been clarified to most peoples' satisfaction. Ask any driver, back seat drivers are the worst!
Pretty well agree with all of the above.
Simple facts are that we are not getting up this season, regardless of Manager. Team is not good enough. Acceptance of this means we have to therefore accept that Laszlo is Manager until end of season when he can be punted for zilch. The money spent on punting him now will be money lost that could have been used for next season, which really would be a case of chasing good money after bad.
Further, acceptance of our current situation means that preparations for next season can effectively start now. There are a couple of players (Allardice , Ballantyne etc) who have been punted out on loan who should never have been. In an ideal world, they should be recalled and playing in the team this season as we will need them next. Guys that we will REALLY need next season and who are falling out of contract (Fyvie and Durnan) should have the kitchen sink thrown at them in order to get them to re-sign. Guys who are not going to be here (Fraser is a deffo), well is there much point in playing them? And then the dross - tell them now they are not wanted and they are free to look for another Club now. It's hardly going to change their motivation levels to date is it?
And finally, the hunt for the new manager should be starting now even while Laszlo is still in office. Who that should that be? I'm phucked if I know. We've had experience (Laszlo and Mixu). We've had younger (McKinnon and MacNamara). None of them have worked out long term. Frankly, I think it's pot luck. So let's all pray to the heavens we finally get lucky this time.
Totally agree about Ballantyne and Allardice. I was moaning about this at the weekend. Regardless of our position I'd much rather have seen both of them play ahead of Murdoch and Quinn for the past few weeks.
Are we certain Fraser is leaving? Big loss if true. Very talented but the abuse he took from sizeable sections of our idiot support never ceased to amaze me.
Genuinely we can still go up this season. Chances maybe 30% with a change and 10% with Csaba still in charge.
I hope we somehow fluke promotion and then can do the rebuild in the higher division
Being in the championship is awful
If be interested to know what you see in this team that makes you think it can beat a premiership side?
Hard to see at the moment as Csaba is killing it. But for 15 months before he was appointed we were a top championship side who on their day can beat a bottom end of the prem team.
Player by player this is not an awful team and better than the championship relegation form Csaba has brought about.
If anyone seriously thinks Csaba is a good manager then they must have had their eyes closed for the past few months
Dont you remember Ross County stripping us for 6?
On paper, this team should have romped this league. But this bit of paper doesnt tell you that the attitude of these players is honking, and they would down tools when they thought they were hard done by!
As for Shabba, the jury is still out and the players really need to have a long hard look at themselves!
