    Well done Salah

Great to see Mo Salah winning the Footballer of the Year award. Watch him make a splash in the WC too. I get the feeling Egypt could do a Turkey 2002 this year.

Talking about Footballer of the Year, when was the last time a Derby player won, was it Dave Mackay 1969 (jointly) or did others from 1972 or 1975 win as well?

FWA chairman Patrick Barclay described the battle between the two as "the toughest call since 1968-69", when there was a dead heat between Tony Book of Manchester City and Derby's Dave Mackay

Rubbish. sympathy vote for Book. Mackay was majestic that season. Not that I have a rose tinted view or anything!

You confused me there with the first line, so had to check it out. Oh it was between de Bruyne and Salah.

I would have thought it between Kane and Salah.
Anyway any answers to the other part of my question. Did a Derby player win in 72 or 75? I would have thought Franny Lee would be a winner?

I believe Salah has won the PFA Players Player of the Year and Football Writers Player of the Year. Colin Todd won the PFA Players Player of the Year in 1974.

Another past Derby player, Peter Shilton, won the PFA PPoY in 1977-78. Dean Sturridge won the 2002 1st Division PFA Fans Player of the year while at Wolves, Rob Earnshaw the 2003 2nd Division one at Cardiff, Marcus Tudgay the Championship one at Sheffield Wednesday in 2009

Cause De Bruyne & Salah have both had exceptional seasons at Man City & Liverpool respectively it was hard for the FWA to decide who should receive the award and he was describing a similar incident in 1968-69, between Manchester City’s Tony Brook & Derby County’s Dave Mackay.

They came down to the decision on giving the award to Salah who done a little bit extra in performance wise mainly in the Champions League to award Salah the award then giving it to De Bruyne.

Yeah ignore him, his brain says one thing and his fingers type something completely the opposite, it's like when a manager didn't have to accept the role even though he'd already been appointed

I did a check, unfortunately no Derby player won in 1972 or 75. Imagine they giving it to Alan Mullery in 1975! And Banks in 1972, I know he won the League Cup, so I guess it was more of giving a football great something rather than the best player from the winning team that year - Derby.

Another former Derby player also won in 1978 - your favourite - Kenny Burns!
