    o/t Ken Loach/ Holocaust denial

it seems that the British film director Ken Loach has got into hot water regarding alleged comments about holocaust denial.

I have not read in depth about this yet but his comments on first glance to me seem entirely reasonable. However, it also has raised in my mind some interesting questions regarding this topic . I would like to know your opinion on the following:

Should holocaust denial be a crime?

What constitutes "holocaust denial" ? In some cases just questioning or disputing the actual numbers of people killed in the concentration camps, means you are in danger of being an anti-semite. Is this okay in your opinion? Should all the facts about the holocaust be beyond question?

I am also interested on any other thoughts you have on the topic.

People should be allowed to believe what they want. Belief does not equate to truth. Holocaust deniers are idiots and few take them seriously. If you ban people from expressing an opinion they still believe them. Best to get it out into the open and show them for the fools that they are.

Also, Ken Loach IS NOT a holocaust denier.

I agree. I think from what I can gather he has views similar to yours in that he doesn't think it should be a crime.

Thought crime is ridiculous and impossible to police. As well as being just wrong.

That's quite amusing from a lefty, most of whom think free speech is the same as hate speech.

When did I say that? Also IBS has a problem being a christian. One of the ten commandments relating to not coveting, that would constitute a thought crime.

You've got free speech on here and it's quite plain to just about everyone that your views are quite abhorrent in the main, keep on spouting the hate fella, you're doing a fine job.

Not quite as amusing as that statement, coming from a man who hates almost everything.
