    Saturday night fixtures

I think we've only ever once played on a Saturday evening before, way back on 8th April 1972 at Torquay United (7:30pm), Torquay always kicked off at that time in the 1970s and 1980s but that was the only year we faced them in the league during those decades. It's a phenomena that's beginning to creep into the Premier League now because of TV. I never minded early kick-offs (1pm-ish) or Sunday afternoon (up to 3pm) but Saturday night just doesn't feel right at all.

It will surely knock a few thousand off the potential gate numbers as Saturday night is the busiest night out in pubs, clubs and restaurants.....many will watch it on a big screen in the city centre.

Notts will no doubt make up the lost revenue from the tv money obviously.

ps Friday night for the home leg is almost as bad IMO

Just thought of another one that almost qualifies as a Saturday evening, Gravesend & Northfleet in December 2003 which kicked off at 5:35pm, Nick Fenton and Clive Platt on target that day.
