Prompted by The Forest Weeble mouthing off as ever from the depressing hovel that is Forest's corporate hospitality suite, where he wheels out the same unfunny jokes week after week:
Who do you reckon is the Least popular player ever to pull on a Derby shirt?
Not the most useless, we already had that one (Mick Coop anyone?), but the most reviled, for failure to put the required effort in, earn their corn, whatever.
I recall John Robertson being pretty unpopular, but notice he played over 70 games for us so someone must have thought he was half decent
Bobby Campbell arrived from Bradford City as the new Messiah, and seemed to have a hate/hate relationship with the Pop side for the 11 games he lasted, despite an OK strike rate of a goal every three games. I recall in his last game he was constantly swearing at the pop side, he may have even spat in its direction
Derek Hales never lived up to his fanfare arrival, and took too long to get going
I even recall Bruce Rioch being unanimously being booed off in one game, just before someone lit the blue touchpaper and turned him into a midfield maestro
Patrick Bamford appears to have become less popular since he left
Thats just a selection
Anyone? And remember, Tommy Docherty wasn't a player

I couldn’t stand Teale
He’s got to be a close second to ten bob head Claude
Connor Sammon
Dean Leacock
What WAS it that made Kitson unpopular? Gotta say, I never warmed to him, but he delivered goals aplenty from midfield and we made a decent profit out of him when we flogged him. My own dislike may stem from the austintacious way he wore his hair, but that's just slaphead bitterness. Things haven't gone well for him since - https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...itson-12403302
Calamity takes the Crown hand' down!
Always seemed like the ultimate ‘me, me, me’...mercenary to me. Others that arrived at a similar time, Craig Short, Tommy J and Marco seemed to play with their heart on their sleeve and actually looked as if it mattered. Kitson just looked as if he was doing a job and showed a bad attitude to team mates and opponents alike imo.
Took some kids on a BBG tour once...bit rough and not the brightest...but we met the players in the dressing room...Gabbiadini, Tommy J, John Harkes, Paul Williams and Roy Mc were absolutely brilliant with them. Kitson looked at them like they were something he’d trodden in.
Type of ‘up himself’ lightweight imo, who, as a former defender, I’d have quite liked to have deposited in the stands tbh.
I actually liked and rated Dean Leacock...Derby’s struggles at the time led to a collapse in confidence of near breakdown proportions but prior to that I though he was a talented and committed defender.
