    Mitrovic fee

Reports doing the rounds that we have set an asking price of 18m.. personally I'd like us to wait until after world cup.. he's been in good form for Serbia and has scored 13 goals.. 4 or 5 in the world cup could add the same number in millions to him asking price.. but then again what do I care.. I still think whether we sell him for 18 or 30 million we will still have a transfer budget of 6m

£18 million is the very bottom end i'd set it up for.

I said £18-25 million on another thread but i would expect the bidding to start at around £20 million.

I agree with you about waiting till World Cup as well, could add an extra £10 million on to him.

My big concern is whatever we sell MItro for will be the transfer budget, my only saving grace on it, is that if that is the case i think Rafa would walk and fact he hasn't yet, means we might be ok.

Why? We haven't done it before on budgets like that so why do you think it'll happen now?

To be fair, we did when we finished 5th and only spent £8mil on Anita.

I don't think we'll spend just that but I am worried that Ashley will find a way to account for all of the tv money and let Rafa spend only what we get in through transfers. And I don't think Rafa will stand for that-and rightly so.

I don't think we will myself sadly, we'll need to but i think we'll make sure it takes so long that the player in question will end up signing for someone whose club won't quibble like us.

If Rafa doesn't sign a new contract then I'd be surprised if Ashley hands him a large pot of money.
If Rafa is intent on just seeing his contract out and Ashley knows it, then I agree, it'll be a shoestring.

I'm not sure how this is going to work...but assuming Rafa does sign a new contract, then I'm 100% sure in my mind that he'll be given a decent pot of money to deal with, in cash and player sales.

Bit of a stand off though.. Rafa not signing until he's signed players and Ashley not releasing money until Rafa signs.. I remain optimistic for the moment, that can change in an instant.. Ashley always wins if it comes to a full stand off..

It's a stand off that shouldn't be happening, if it is actually that.
If I had to stick my neck out I'd likely go with Ashley selling up and is just waiting to get confirmation.
Pure speculation on my part and borne from Rafa not signing on for extra years, as well as nothing said by any party except mere speculation from newspapers on everything and anything tasty enough to be nibbled on.

It would make much more sense because, if Rafa knows he won't sign a contract or Ashley won't budge on one at this time, it should be Rafa saying bye bye right now, knowing his build is pointless.

But if Rafa's holding back or Ashley is with Rafa's knowledge and no feedback from any of it to the fans, then it does smell of a take-over. POSSIBLY.
