    Wolves musings

My thoughts on the final pre season friendly............

Carson - Showed exactly why he is the undisputed #1
Wisdom - Had a decent enough game. Out of position a couple of times but he either sorted it himself or a teammate bailed him out. He also bailed others out as well which is typical of the "no I in team" ethic FL seems to have drummed into them.Bogle did well in his cameo. Unlucky for him but he will at least make the XVIII
Keogh (Pearce, 84’) - Keogh, unfettered by the captaincy, had a good game. 2 or 3 wayward passes early doors when not even under presseure but he got into the groove. Pearce showed he is good cover.
    Davies - Skipper designate. Solid.
Lowe (Forsyth, 79’) - As with Wisdom, lost his man a couple of times. Didn't react, IMO, quickly enough to the shot that hit the bar which gave the Wolves player time and room to put the ball away. He won't be facing that kind of player much, if at all, this season.
Bryson (Jozefzoon, 63’) - Bryson looks just about back to his old self. Jozefzoon came on, wasn't involved then.... got the ball, beat the full back, crossed to Nuge who pulled it back for Mount to put it away.
Ledley (Johnson, 73’) - Ledders looked comfortable as did BJ when he came on. Hudds lack of mobility holding him back?
Mount - Fitting in very well indeed.
Wilson - Looked a bit lightweight at times, easily held off. Fast, agile and tricky.
Nugent (Bennett, 75’) - Scored one, one assist and might have had 3 more goals. Revelling in this fast style. Bennett did enough to secure his place on the bench.
Lawrence (Thomas, 81’) - Looked dangerous. Dangerous enough for the Wolves defence to continually kick. Thomas did enough to secure his place on the bench.

I expect this XVII (starting XI plus trhe 6 subs used), injuries apart, plus either Roos or Mitchell, to be the XVIII at Reading on Friday.

    Unused Substitutes: Roos, Mitchell, Jerome

George Evans from Reading is almost certainly one, mista. Suppose Waghorn is still the other. Anyone else?
Be interesting to see who goes and when.

I had forgotten him for a minute......

I think Nuge did more than enough against Wolves to keep his place. Marriott will have to be patient. I will have to amend my matchday XVIII.

Whose benchwarming spot will Marriott take? That would appear, if I am right on my other musings on the matchday squad, to be a decision between Bennett and Thomas. I think it might be Thomas that loses out as Bennett can fit in all three of the front 3 roles. Thomas just the 2 wide roles.

    Cameron Jerome in the Stands.

I expect Jerome may be gone if w get Waghorn but every up in the air with Vydra another typical Derby cock up Looks like Leeds are getting Bamford instead But heard WBA want Vydra but waiting on Rondom moving

Nugent is no longer a 90mins player at this level and especially if we are upping the tempo. Effective however if giving everything for 50-60mins and could be a useful way of integrating Marriott over a few weeks.

    Makes sense Manx.
I’ve heard the WBA rumour about Vydra too, mista. Seems strange for Leeds to take Bamford instead of Vydra...very different strengths imo.
Pleases me though...like Vydra, don’t like Bamford...loathe Leeds!
Boro’ still seem to be sniffin’ around Waghorn.

The rumoured 8m seems a lot for Waghorn I think that money could buy someone more proven.

With Evans that's a 30 man squad. 31 if you count Max Bird who didn't disgrace himself in his 2 pre season cameos.

    Time to cull a few..............
