    The squad is stronger....

    .... than last season?

    We have signed 7 players.

2 We had last season anyway.
    3 from relegated clubs
2 we know absolutely nothing about.

    Joselu and Manquillo still there.

We sold more players than we bought.

I am not fully convinced we are better.

    Time will tell.

Just a shame the clubs around us have strengthend so so much, fulham have signed the likes of schurrle, Vietto, that Seri who arsenal were after, wolves have spent big west ham have spent big, only a couple of clubs havent spent big and most of the clubs who would be in bottom half have massively improved that their teams will be unrecognisable.

It might actually be that the squad is just as strong as last season. However, the issue is whether that'll actually be good enough this season. My worry is that we were only 1 result from finishing 15th last season, and some of the teams that finished below us last season have done a lot to strengthen e.g. West Ham. Some probably didn't finish in a position that reflects their true ability e.g. Southampton. And I actually think that a couple of the clubs that have come up have much stronger squads than some of those that went e.g. Fulham and Wolves. So even if we've managed to tread water through player trading over the summer, we might still go backwards this season.

I'd be delighted with 10th again this season, but I think more realistically is that (just like last season) we're going to be in a long fight with about 10-12 other teams against relegation and we could end up finishing anywhere in the bottom half. We have a tough start, so need to just see that through, hopefully catch a few teams cold, and then battle it out until we're safe.
