31 August - Loan transfer deadline day

Not giving up on BM just yet as there are still some posters willing to keep it going so started this thread to discuss what happens with the remainder of our business in the Summer 2018 transfer window up to Friday at 5 p.m.

Attached below EFL rules on loan transfers. Only players who are registered by noon on Friday will be eligible to play against Villa on Saturday. So if we do our deals at the last minute they wont be available until 15 September against Bristol City away. If we sign Hogan before Friday he wouldn't be able to play against his parent club anyway.

The loan rules are clear we are only allowed 5 in the match day squad so it seems we have only two places to fill.

Do we go with two strikers or what seems to be CW's preferred option of a LWB and striker? We are at risk of ending up with no-one in if all our deals are dependent on incomings /outgoings at another club.

We have to get to players in and my preference is Gallagher at Southampton, he may be available if they can't move Shane Long on and Marvin Johnson for some pace down the flanks. Hogan is a non starter for me because of his injury record and the fact he hasn't had a pre season. Fletcher has done little in the last two seasons since a good spell in Division one with North Barnsley.

I just hope we don't get on Friday at 5.01 p.m. well we tried but!!

We defo need at least one striker mate dunt we? Given that Leon has a tight hammy, that'd just leave Goldie and of Course our Skipper cos Lavery aint good enuff for what we need nar in my view. There aint owt in't development squads up top either. UTCB

i think we need 2 strikers as well as johnson wouldnt suprise me if hogan fletcher and johnson came in think you can actually have up to 8 loans at a club but can only name 5 in the match day 18 if we could get those 3 over the line i think we would have a cracking chance of a top 6 spot

Beginning to think we need one good striker and keep our powder dry for JTW. We could gamble on Hogan and he could be out injured till January.? Quality not quantity.

    Not getting excited

We've been here before and if we are relying on Villa and Boro for owt to happen then I'm ready for that deadline day disappointment

Pressing the refresh button every 60 secs is fkin torture

wonder if this hogan fitness issue might stall the move maybe till january and bring fletcher in on a season long loan as cover ? in any case we have to bring at least 1 striker in before friday even if it may have to be a bit of a punt

Tricky one. I feel we need to get someone in up top regardless! Don't think Wilder can risk playing on till January with just Sharp, Clarke and McGoldrick. A panic loan until January would be better than nothing.

if its loan to buy in january then they do not count as a loan so there fo we can have 3 more loans

As I read it, Twirls, it remains a loan up to the time the transfer actually goes through. Then it ceases to be a loan (obviously).
I believe one can have a total of 8 loans, but only 4 older players. Hendo and Woodburn are obviously youngsters, so we might be restricted on getting more than 2 young ‘uns. Ollie is the only “over age” loan we have (I think). The only other restricting factor is that only 5 are allowed in a match day squad. Therefore, I suspect we will go for 2 more, rather than 3. Whether we’ll get them or not remains to be seen.
