    The Window is Shut

Motherwell have made use of this window to refresh the Fir Park squad. The arrival of Ross McCormack and Gboly Ariyibi on loan has been balanced by a number of departures. - External Link

Seems the club feel more confident by the recent wins (despite the performances), to save on the payroll this time round. Or, McCormacks loan deal is stretching funds. He’d better shape up and start contributing or we’ll feel like we’ve been taken advantage off. Is Cadden and any of the other long term injuries coming back in soon? Realize Carson wont be. Would have liked seeing a few others leave, like Sammon. Haven’t been impressed by Gorrin though it seems he’s getting his opportunity now. Hope he shows more impact.

Not a terribly exciting window but I think we picked our business well.

Ariybi won't be breaking the bank and we needed another winger if we're playing 4-3-3, particularly with pace. McCormack is potentially too good to turn down for anyone at our level. If they don't succeed it's no big deal.

On the flip side along with the kids going out on loan, we fixed two mistakes (Bowman and ATS) and while Bigi showed flashes of being a player, he clearly never did it consistently and there's no point in having one of our supposed big earners as a squad player. As predicted by everyone, Rose hasn't been missed.

Had we progressed in the cup and been handed an 'easy' draw it would be tempting of course to find another striker or rush the move for a left back but with that not an issue and league safety effectively guaranteed it's better we start a calm build-up to next season.
