Ageist, Racist, ***ist?. Take Your Pick!

Having a beer last night got talking to a really nice guy who reguarly does football commentary on local radio. For years he has also done reports on BBC Final Score where they go over for a short update on the match especially if a goal has been scored.

He is a 50 year old white bloke and recently has been called on less and less. He is quite sanguine about the situation but is convinced it is nothing to do with the quality of his work it is because he is perhaps too old, maybe the wrong colour but in particular the wrong gender. He can't remember the last time he heard a new up and coming male voice doing these reports, they are all females.

HAVING OVER MANY YEARS STRIVED FOR EQUALITY WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE NOW WANTING TO BE TREATED DIFFERENTLY?

There is so much “tokenism” these days, every facet of life is affected by it now.

On the BBC weather now we have a one armed weather girl.....she’s perfectly pleasant and competent but you just know the BBC actively went looking for someone disabled to do the job.

I’d love to know what the selection process was and if a two armed person was discriminated against.

Location,Location,Location is a programme I used to enjoy but on every series now there’s loads of gay couples and mixed raced couples.

Instead of picking people out of a hat you can tell there’s an overbalancing going on in favour of “minority’s”.

Soap operas as full of the above as well.

I look at my very average life and think back and remember the very small number of gay people I’ve worked with including people who “never married” ( as the old joke goes ) who were obviously gay but didn’t come out.

I’ve lived in a lot of different houses but never had a gay couple in my street and I’m struggling to remember any mixed race couples I’ve come across in my street or indeed who I’ve worked with.

I have no problem at all with either of these things but the way they are represented on TV is way out of kilter with reality in my opinion.

A mate of mine said a few years ago that the most endangered group in the U.K. was the middle aged white male.

    He wasn’t wrong!

Its the obviousness about it too. There seems to be no "best one for the job" but rather which of these minority groups boxes can we tick? If you are a black disabled dwarf Lesbian refugee who has no manners and is quite cutting with remarks then the world is now literally your oyster. Talk about a full 360 pendulum swing!

Just in the last hour I've it said on the radio 'we need more black police' and a separate comment claiming 'we need more women MPs'

NO! What we need is more good cops and more good MP's their colour or gender is not the issue.

It's political correctness gone mad. Oops sorry! I should have said it's political correctness with mental health issues.
