    Table since Boxing Day

It's taken me ages to do this so I hope that you all blinking read it.

Here is the league table since all the teams had played half the seasons matches (19).

It could have been much better too.

Watford away (good injury time winner by Wood ruled out for offside) - cost us 2 points
Man Utd away (Never a penalty and equaliser was offside) - cost us 2 points
Southampton home (Barnes was wiped out but got booked for diving) - we were on top at the time and would probably have gone on to win - cost us 2 points
Leicester home (Taylor was blatantly fouled - stonewall penalty) Being so late in the game I'm sure we would have gone on to win) cost us 3 points.

That is presuming that we would have converted the two penalties of course.

If we had got those four decisions then we would be joint top with City in the matches since Boxing day.

But here is the actual table since Boxing Day

    1 Man City 13 12 0 1 GD 26 36
    2 Man Utd 14 10 2 2 GD 13 32
    3 Liverpool 14 9 4 1 GD 31 31
    4 Burnley 15 8 3 4 GD 6 27
    5 Chelsea 14 8 2 4 GD 2 26
    6 Arsenal 13 8 1 4 GD 9 25
    7 Spurs 14 7 1 6 GD -6 22
    8 Newcastle 15 6 3 6 GD 1 21
    9 Southampton 14 6 3 5 GD 0 21
    10 Wolves 14 6 3 5 GD -1 21
    11 Palace 14 6 2 6 GD 4 20
    12 Leicester 15 6 1 8 GD 1 19
    13 Watford 13 5 4 4 GD 1 19
    14 Everton 15 6 1 6 GD 0 19
    15 West Ham 15 4 3 8 GD -9 15
    16 Bournemouth 15 4 3 8 GD -11 15
    17 Cardiff 14 4 1 9 GD -15 13
    18 Brighton 13 3 2 8 GD -13 11
    19 Fulham 15 3 0 12 GD -18 9
    20 Huddersfield 15 1 1 13 GD -26 4

If we had have got those 4 decisions and scored the two penalties then our record would have been...

    2 Burnley 15 12 0 3 GD 12 36

Makes you wonder Alf where we would have been but for that pesky Europa Cup...

If Heaton & McNeill hadn't been selected for the WHU game, where would we be now?

I'd say it was the pesky Burnley Board who knew the Europa Cup was coming and did nothing to help our cause.

Same as Norder though, I appreciate your work as I know how hard it was to do the table 59

Great work 1959_60 but IF my auntie had been my uncle and my grandma was really my grandad who knows how things might have worked out?

All I know for certain is that we should have added two or three players in July in the certain knowledge the squad would be stretched to the max. Despite our Chairman's parsimonious outlook SD has pulled it off yet again and perhaps we can now all really start to trust in him 100% without any negatives?

Your work does prove unequivocally 1959_60, just what a fantastic effort the whole team have put together since Christmas. PHEW!

You know something 59, we have more in common than you might ever imagine, both Burnley fans, we both love the Lakeland Fells, love mind-blowingly tedious political arguments, and now I find, just like me, you love to put your anorak on and work through league tables and fixtures to come up with new stats.

Remember on that other thread, I said that in his first season Dyche turned the worst defence in the league into the 2nd best after Cardiff ? How do you think I knew ? I totalled the number of goals conceded by every team in the league before Dyche arrived, and then did the same for every team after his arrival, and came up with two defensive league tables, one before Dyche, one after. It took ages, sad really isn't it.

Remember the "Two Ronnies"? We are blessed on here with the "Two Anoraks!"

I nearly included you in with us BT, Burnley fan, loves the Lakes and tedious political discussions, but whereas me and 59 like to dig out real, verifiable stats on footy, you prefer dubiously confected lefty political 'stats', like the ones on so-called 'poverty', so close but no cigar.
