    Out of Time?

On Saturday I got taken along to a 60's revival night. First half was The Fourmost, Swinging Blue Jeans, Herman's Hermits. All a bit of enjoyable sing a long nostalgia. Improved in the second half with New Amen Corner.
Then they wheeled on a 78 year old Chris Farlowe. He was excellent and his rendition of The Small Faces 'All or Nothing' stole the show. There's hope for me yet.

Saw Chris when he was support for Van Morrison. He still had a decent voice and he and Van sounded good together when they did a duet. Did not realise he was 78 now. I remember him as a fresh faced singer doing Out Of Time in the mid sixties. Hearing it on the transistor radio we had playing in my dad's car going to Wales on holiday. Happy days.

How about Dudley Jazz Club, did you ever get in there? It was somewhere close to the Old Priory boozer on New Street, Dudley. Never any big names there but plenty of decent local rock groups performing. Greta pick up spot too!

Saw Chris Farlowe on Later, I thought that he looked a lot older than 78! Still lots of the oldies going around, I am hoping to get to see John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett next week! That should be a blast!

I saw Otway and Barrett at Birmingham Town Hall around the time they had the hit Really Free. Absolute loony. Willie threatened him if he damaged another guitar during the show. He was climbing on scaffold and all manner of stupidity but they could play quite sensitively as well.
