    AFC Notts County

If we get liquidated AFC Notts County will need to be set up.

If either the granny swindler or the smurf somehow ends up in control there is a strong case to the made for setting AFC Notts County up.

How do you set up AFC Notts County though? What needs to be done? How can normal fans get involved? Can the Green estate change the lease unilaterally to let AFC Notts County play at Meadow Lane?

Why AFC Notts County? Why is the assumed naming convention A.F.C.?

Halifax Town A.F.C. reformed as F.C. Halifax Town.
Chester City F.C. became Chester F.C.
Accrington Stanley F.C. kept the name of the club that folded.
Aldershot F.C. became Aldershot Town F.C.

Is there anything to prevent the name of Notts County F.C. being used?

If the former is liquidated and no longer a legal entity then no reason whatsoever. However, I don't think that was really what the OP was trying to get to the bottom of.

Driller, I think we would still need at least one wealthy benefactor if we were to convince the FA to allow us entry into the pyramid at an acceptable level like AFC Wimbledon.

We’d come in at a higher level than AFC Wimbledon - they had to start so low as they were considered a completely new club. Reformed ones recently (Hereford, Halifax, Darlington) have come in much higher in the pyramid. None of them have had a wealthy benefactor.

Hopefully doesn’t come to that anyway!

I really dislike the whole 'AFC' thing... Why not just Nottinghamshire County Football Club? It's still NCFC, Notts is simply short for Nottinghamshire anyway, it's effectively a name continuation...

Nottinghamshire County Football Club (NCFC) is better than Association Football Club Notts County (AFCNC) or Notts County Association Football Club (NCAFC)... In my opinion

As ncfcog correctly inferred the name wasn't exactly what I was getting at, more the mechanism of setting up a brand new football club, although I understand the name has to be right for a majority of fans.

Could we set up some kind of platform to vote on this? I don't mean an internet poll which would lead to epic levels of trolling by Stags fans and Footy McFootball FC but a system whereby 'members' of the new club (like socios for Spanish clubs) could pay a fee to have access to the platform (the cost of a season ticket for example, so ST holders would automatically qualify).

This could perhaps also be used to decide other strategic issues, although not transfers and day to day decisions as that proved unworkable when tried somewhere before (Eastleigh?).

And are we sure that we couldn't play at ML? If the HG estate were of the opinion that the new club was what the man would've wanted and approved of, could they give the new club the lease?

It wasn't my intention to derail the thread or to detract from the points made by drillerpie. I just don't understand why, time after time people refer to AFC Notts County. If the worst comes to the worst my preferred name for the reformed Notts County F.C. is Real Magpies F.C.

Aren't we officially Notts. County (with a full stop), we could just drop the full stop or insert one in if there has to be a difference.
If a new entity had to be formed but still played at Meadow Lane then it would very much feel like the same club, much more so than the many teams who have moved ground. A new club at a new ground however would be difficult to accept, continuity wise.

The thing is, we need a club to support. I know it would never be the same again, but surely it's better to support any club that rises from the ashes of this mess than another team entirely, or no team at all? You could argue that in terms of continuity, the fans are the biggest factor anyway. Players, managers, even stadia come and go, but the fans remain the same.

Personally, I can't not have a team to support. I can't just be an armchair fan and watch the Premier League while I eat my dinner. I'd probably be forced to get behind an AFC Notts County out of sheer necessity.

Well as harsh as it sounds I would have zero interest in AFC Notts County or whatever name they would be called.

We wouldn't be able to play at Meadow Lane for a start and then if it happened fans would have to take a season off at least whilst the club is being set up.

As for people asking the FA for help they haven't helped other clubs either in the past they are a bunch of a*seholes & the ideal result for them would be if in England we only had 2/3 pro leagues like Spain/Germany/France etc.
