    O/T Miners

We got on about where me and my wife met and were wondering whether the building is 1, still there and 2, what is it being used for now.

We met 31 years ago at the Miners Youth Club in Parkgate.

It was a great place to spend 2 or 3 evenings a week either boxing, playing pool, table tennis, listening to music and dancing a bit.
Many a good time was had there but the last time I went past it was closed and had trees growing out of the roof.

Don't know about the Miners Frog but a place I went as a kid was Friendship House in town. Obviously a similar place, played footy in the gym, snooker and did a fair bit of courting. Happy times

Albert did so much and probably for nowt. He'd have probably been awarded a gong if the rules in place now were in place back then.

It was up the side of Talbot Lane Methodist Church. Thinking back looking out of the back windows of the place would have been a fantastic view of the NYS. I frequented it most weeks early to mid 80s.

Never actually went there myself but heard from many that did in the 70s. Parkgate was a scary prospect for a quiet lad from Rawmarsh. Surprised to hear it was still going in '88 when you met Mrs Frog.
