    Mesut Ozil

I am all in favour of free speech and Mesut has every right to call out persecution where he sees it but he must be incredibly naive if he did not foresee that the Chinese authorities would link his comments to his privileged position as a Premier League footballer. I also wonder if Mesut has pondered the fate of the 1.5 million Armenian Christians who died at the hands of the Ottoman Turks during World War 1.

Footballers should stick to what they do best by playing football and not posting /making comments online about other countries political policies..If he feels so strongly about it he should give the game up and take up the cause.. I can remember an American footballer doing this a few years ago and the Chinese really took the huff about it and America lost billions in revenue..

Footballers get bored Alf, the trouble seems to be that most cannot turn their free time into something productive.

So much free time a lot seem to have sleeves full of Tats, some strange hair cuts with sometimes odd colours, get together with team mates to rehearse a goal celebration which they find hilarious, some strange dress sense (as in Roberto Firmino).

They are earning Millions and living in a different world, one that IMO is distant and so removed from reality, I viewed an old video of Ashley Cole just after his retirement from England Internationals in 2014, he was showing of his 6 Rolex and 5 TAG Heuer Watch's, he looked so impressed with himself for having them, it was cringe worthy and tacky.

They believe their own hype, taking to Twitter/Facebook and such believing its the best thing since sliced bread commenting on their game and sometimes speaking out like he's a main mouthpiece to the world about broader things without thinking of what reaction they could receive, and do they care, No because they are earning Millions and inside their precious unnatural bubble.

Ozil is a devout Muslim, he was speaking out about the abhorrent treatment Muslims are experiencing in that corner of the world.

At least he has got folks talking about it!

Nobody seems too concerned about the treatment that Christians are experiencing in China, perhaps they are concerned that China will pull the plug on the PL which, at the moment, is played in what can still be considered a Christian country. Money rules --as usual.

Welby is far too busy expressing outrage about ideological Tory cuts and austerity to worry about Christians being persecuted, far, far too busy.

No it's not news BT, and nobody gives a sh1t, they're far too concerned about some bizarre construct called 'Islamophobia'. Pointing out the fact that it's Islamists intent on decimating Christians and Jews in the Middle East would likely lead to accusations of Islamophobia', so our woke politicians prefer to turn a blind eye, pretend it's not happening.

We went out for a few sherbets with a couple of our rather posh, middle class friends last night. After long debate and serious discussion we concluded the erosion of our protestant, working class values, morals and ethics has undermined the social fabric of the United Kingdom. It was odd because the same conclusion was reached after talking to a German couple in the hotel bar last weekend.

They were adamant that multi-culturalism simply does not work in Germany. Now that Brexit is finally concluded I wonder how the "One Nation" Tories will address our island's grave social issues?

The odd thing is, I think Johnson might be prepared to give it a go. (I really have no idea what's happened to warp my brain to this extent, but hey ho let's unite and help Johnson give it a go?)
