Just in case you want to call me, what was it the other day Crash, a Humourless Automaton, here's an excerpt from an email I received today:-

Since the beginning of this public health crisis we have braced for the moment we would learn one of our own coworkers has been diagnosed with the coronavirus. I regret to inform you that this moment has come.

A staff member who was last in the office this past Tuesday has informed us of being diagnosed with COVID-19. Our hearts are with this valued member of our team, as well as family and friends, who have headed into a recovery process that we all greatly hope will only have mild or moderate symptoms. It is important and legally mandatory that we maintain the employee’s confidentiality. But we have been in direct communication with the individual and they are in good spirits.

We do not yet know the full severity of the situation our region will face in the coming weeks. We do know that statistically, this employee is not likely to be the last to be positively diagnosed.
