According to the managing director of Dagenham and Redbridge, the National League clubs may need up to £20m to survive the Covid 19 crisis. The National league does not have the funds to support its clubs, and fears for the future of many of them. Steve Thompson added that many League 1 and 2 clubs were in a similar position.
The professional football landscape may well look very different in the future than the one we have today.

Government advice today via the radio was that people can still play football in parks but shouldn't hug each other after scoring. So BCD isn't a huge leap from that (Once things start to settle down again). Can't see us going straight from nothing at all to grounds full of 30,000 people or whatever. Some rounds of fixtures will have to be BCD unless its so long that they have to have a mini pre-season first and its those that are BCD. Players will be at more risk of injury if they haven't played for x amount of weeks, so friendlies might be unavoidable.
The EFL has drawn up emergency measures designed to financially help clubs through the crisis after they were deprived of crucial matchday income because fixtures were postponed until the end of April.
But Notts are also included in those plans because clubs who are relegated into the National League are entitled to £607,000 in parachute payments for their first season outside the EFL.
That sum is usually paid in instalments throughout the season, but in light of the crisis, the Football League will now pay the remaining cash in one sum to Notts who were relegated from League Two last May.
It is unclear how much the Magpies are owed, but the news comes as the EFL said there was a £50m fund in place to help its members.
However, clubs in the National League do fear the financial ramifications of having weeks without matchday income because the League is not in a position to offer a relief package.
According to Dagenham managing director Steve Thompson, a government bailout of between £15-20m will be required to help clubs across the National League's top flight and its North and South divisions.
Talks with the Football Association are ongoing with pressure mounting on the government to offer financial aid.

£20 million quid to keep clubs afloat? he is suggesting that on average 277k per club. Notts wouldn’t have got that in revenue once other deductions had been applied would they? Given we had 6 weeks and 4 home games left, I find it hard to believe. And we are the biggest club outside the EFL and will no doubt have the wage bill to match.
It sounds like mis management across the board if so and the EFL and National League have the buckets out.
