    Pensions and Investments

Anyone's been hammered by what's going on? My mate lost a few thousand £'s in a week. I haven't had the heart to ask him lately.

Because of my age and Brexit concerns I stuck mine into what my FA calls 'Defensive Funds' and he assures me there is no reason for concern.

Not worth panicking in such times.

Only a fool sells it cashes in at the present time.

    Wait a couple of yours.

    BREATH.......AHHH.

Not sure what message you are trying to send. It's certainly not the time to panic right now as stocks and shares are at a low and now is not the time to sell. Hopefully not going much/any lower. But who knows?

You can't choose when you get to 65 and need your pension to perform.

The message I’m sending is simple.

If you have shares don’t sell them.

If you have a pension that’s linked to shares then that’s just tough luck I’m afraid.

    I have very little in pensions,about £40k I think.

I decided to invest my spare money in building my business and buying property both of which have turned out to be good solid options over a long period.

Likewise. I only once heavily invested in shares and that was hugely successful for me because of some 'inside information' I had.

I too invested in my business and property which in my case was largely the same thing. In the mid 90's someone gave me lesson on good debt and leverage at a time when banks were throwing money at you. Remember 110% mortgages? Another example of financial institutions getting it wrong and swinging from being stupidly free with money resulting in 2008 and now being too tight.
