Aye. Been watching loads of stuff on the Discovery channel today. Brave folk-the world would be unrecognisable if the Germans had succeeded in invading us.

    Agreed.

The amount of people that have bunting out and Union Jack flags on display is quite impressive in my area.

Amen to that. Had two uncles in DLI who were one of the first regiments landed, one walked away without a scratch but was shell shocked for many years and the other lost an arm and a leg.

there are loads of gypsies where i live, today they had another one of their street parties. Our street was closed off, tables and chairs were 2m apart, music blaring, food on the go. Fantastic to see the locals keep up the community spirit and still observe the guidelines set by the police and government.

The same lot have a street party for any of the royals or war ceremonies, this year i thought would be different, but the travellers know how to hold a party no matter what

haha I was trying to get my aunt dottie engaged with the bbc offerings today

she spoke about the war, but says mainly sad memories for her - how many of her friends went to fight and didn't come back. she was 17/18 when the war finished many of the lads were friends or friends brothers etc
