Manchester City v Burnley Match Preview

Well it seems strange to be penning a preview for a match that might be postponed or played behind closed doors or just never take place at all. The breaking news is that City’s game v Arsenal scheduled for this evening has been postponed and I am hoping that just relates to a perceived risk relating to Arsenal players and staff who may have come into contact with the virus. If the game at the Etihad gets the go ahead then just like the Spurs game we will face opponents who must follow this PL fixture with a Champions League second leg tie. The comparisons end there though because far from having to overcome a first leg deficit City hold a 2-1 lead over Real Madrid after a brilliant performance in the Bernabeu. Who knows what side Pep will put out. Weighing up City’s dangermen it is practically everyone! We do however go into the match on a 7 game unbeaten run and the players will want to extend that in front of their travelling fans. COYC!

I hope the game does go ahead.
    My weekend's all planned out.
I've no more chance of catching this virus at the match, than I have going to the supermarket

I put a tenner on Burnley to beat City on Saturday in the certain knowledge they would be leggy from tonight's game and Real Madrid on the horizon.

Postponing games here is so phooking over the top, it's a flu virus, not a major phooking cholera outbreak!

Father it has been 101 days since my last match preview and I have committed innumerable unpardonable sins since then. On the plus side we are still on that long unbeaten run and SD is still in charge. On the debit side we still have to meet Man City and we will be without Ashley Barnes, Chris Wood and JBG. City are likely to be without Eric Garcia but Pep said he would be making changes anyway from the side that confidently despatched Arsenal 3-0 as Burnley will provide a different challenge with their long ball game. Maybe he hasn’t been told about Barnes and Wood being absent. If he needs a new Intel Officer it is a job that would suit me down to the ground and I hear City pay good wages. My first advice would be forget about drafting in Otamendi for Garcia, snap up David Luiz now as cover and get him started. COYC.

Would the "science" suggest major crowds are a COVID-19 problem? If so London has got off pretty lightly I would suggest...

And the FA's answer is to allow cardboard cut-outs!

It all seems doom and gloom emanating from Turf Moor, injuries piling up, contract situation shambolic, best young players loaned out so no decent kids to put in. No doubt it's all a smokescreen to lure Pep and his galaxy of overpaid superstars into a false sense of security. Or is it ?

If we win 13-0 tonight we go eighth.

    What a motivation, eh?

It's a good game to start with.We know how good City are and they have played one game since the re-start so we know that we are most likely going to lose.We are jumping in at the deep end so it's a good test of how we dealt with the enforced break and it will prepare us for Watford.Don't worry about injured players and contracts at this stage of a difficult period, everything will be sorted before the new season starts.Come on you doomsters UTC.

It's not the new season that's a pressing problem Barrie, injured players can't play tonight and it appears some out of contract players don't want to play, whether they will or not in the event we'll see, but it's not ideal going into a game like this.
