    City played poorly, but lot of modern players are vastly overated. Stirling would not have taken Francis Lee's place, and is that world class keeper really any better than Joe Corrigan was?

    Really great teams do of course have really good players, but they also have good organised "back fours"

    Man City themselves flourished when the back 4 had Kompany in it

    Would Arsenal have done as well as they did without Adams and Co?

    Liverpool without Hansen etc?

    There's always the joke of Guardiola and Warniola, but both don't seem to value the importance of a strong back 4.

    Against Lyon Pep even played a back 3 of defenders that you would hardly add to the greats list, Laporte, Garcia and Fernandinho.

    Up against quick attackers it's a recipe for disaster as last night's result showed.
