    O/T Cinemas

Just been announced that the Bond film as been put back till 2nd April 2021.

Has anyone visited a cinema since they sort of reopened a few weeks back? I walked past the Odeon in West Brom this evening and the foyer was like a morgue. Mind ya they were showing Black Panther, Military wives and Sonic the Hedgehog. They don't appear to be offering very much to attract the punters. Hard to see how these places can survive much longer

Maybe go back to the old days; I’m a member of a forum about historical matters regarding the town in which I grew up, Halesowen. Cinemas were discussed a while back and one of them was the Lyttleton, it had double seats on the back rows! Get the girl you fancied at school to go to ‘see a film’ at the Lyttleton, double seats.............!

I still call the picture house, last time I went was in 1983.

The mothballing of cineworld could spell the death knell to the big chain cinemas. Many folk have now decided that video on demand is the way to go now such as netflix and I doubt many will miss the big screen experience. I hardly went anyway but I was looking forward to the latest Bond film.

The Lyttleton was one of those rare cinemas that closed down and embraced bingo, then closed the bingo and went back to being a cinema! As you say ketts they also had 'courting seats' apparently they also had them at the Royal in Cradley Heath. These types of seats no longer exist which could also be said for cinemas as well fairly soon

I wouldn’t have used the term ‘courting seats’, though.......!

Did anyone ever visit the type of cinema Gerald Sinstadt got caught sneaking out of?

I didn’t but I did go with a girlfriend to watch Emanuelle to then find myself hugely disappointed at the lack of proper action but gratified by the excellent “hand shandy” offered up by the girlfriend 🤪

The most famous one in my neck of the woods was the Taboo Cinema in Digbeth Birmingham. Apparently you were required to sign a form in the foyer that you will not to get up to any gross indecency on the premises.

Quite surprised to see that this cinema was still plying its mucky trade even now. Covid as been no deterrent but HS2 is, so it will close down on the 28th October.
