Do they seriously think this will get rid of the virus, or even get it under some sort of 'control' ? Many people have no self discipline, no self respect and, therefore, they will not come close to doing what they are bid.
The problem will continue until the next idea comes to light for many people to ignore.

Just remember when thousands of people are dying from lack of care due to Wuhan Virus, depression, suicide and poverty by a policy dictated by the Media. I hope you also remember to denounce those guilty of contributing deaths and hold then accountable because there will be plenty over the next several years to come. We have a governing class with no solutions. Looks like the Great Reset is becoming the only economic solution for our ruling classes. Check out on the Government website compared to historic data how many people have died from the flu/influenza this year; its quite interesting; in fact its interesting if you look at the global stats on this as well.

During the spring lockdown our towns were virtually empty and the vast majority followed the rules.

And the result was that covid cases and deaths dramatically reduced.

It's a very difficult balancing act though. Economies will be severely hit, many people will be suffering.

On the other hand, everything we can do must be done to allow our NHS/Care services to function.

As I said, I'm glad it's not my problem.

Aye Super, there will always be a small minority that will do what they like. But the vast majority of people complied with the spring lockdown, and they will do again.

If you don't agree with another lockdown, then how would you react to try to protect our NHS/Care services? What does your son and his wife suggest?

RI cases and deaths rise quickly every autumn 59, it's an annual event, it comes round every year, just like Wimbledon and Royal Ascot and Christmas, this October they're running about the same as October 2016, but don't tell anyone.

But do tell me this, do you think this lockdown will stop it in it's tracks ? If your answer is yes, then fair enough, we'll see. If it's no, then tell me just why we're inflicting even more carnage on an already devastated economy ?

The "experts" are telling us that if we do nowt then there will be a horrific loss of life over winter and the NHS won't be able to cope.

If you were PM and the "experts" told you this, then you WOULD act.

A lockdown should slow the infection rate and eventually the death rate, but it is only a stop gap measure to take the pressure off. Once restrictions are lifted then cases will go up.

I think the reasoning is that we use this delay to get the test, track and trace working properly once the number have cases have reduced enough.

Such is the level of infections currently, track and trace is virtually useless.

So I would listen to the "experts", take into consideration the economy and well being of our people and take action. Probably a four week harsh lockdown, get track and trace working properly and hopefully the NHS will be able to cope.

Any other options that I know about risk mayhem.

When we had the first so called lockdown, it was not strictly enforced and the action of some government advisors did somewhat undermine the restrictions.
I think the relaxing of those restrictions came a bit to early and some of the government’s policies like “Eat Out to Help Out” did not help in suppressing this virus.
SAGE recommended to the government in September that a “Circuit Break” was needed for a two-week period to bring the virus back under control. The government decided against this option for whatever reason.
We are now back to a situation where it appears that a further national lockdown is inevitable, with SAGE saying that a two-week period would not now be long enough. If as the Prime Minister was saying in the beginning, they would be led by the science it is fairly clear now that this was either a lie or that there was a change in strategy which was not generally communicated.
If the reason for not accepting the recommendation of SAGE in September was because it would have caused the government problems with their back bench supporters it is a definite case of the governments ineptitude.
If as expected we are to go into a further lockdown, I hope that firstly it is more strenuously enforced and that the government can announce a suitable financial to assist the low paid worker who will be affected the most and not give our privileged MP’s additional funding to work at home.
