RC church and child abuse inquiry

Not new but closer to home and the Pope.

The head of the Catholic Church in England and Wales has, at times, shown he cares more about the impact of abuse on the Church's reputation than on the victims, a report says.

The Independent Inquiry into Child ***ual Abuse criticised the leadership of Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, and the Vatican.

That reminds me is anybody watching "His dark Materials "

Pullman's His Dark Materials series was number 8 on the Top 100 Banned/Challenged Books list for 2000-2009. In 2007, the Catholic League campaigned against The Golden Compass, declaring that it promoted atheism and attacked Christianity, in particular the Catholic church.24 Sep 2013

Haven't seen His Dark Material but I'm currently reading the Book of Dust in which Lyra is a young baby. Entertaining read.

I've read the trilogy of books on which it's based. Very good.

Anyone see Spotlight a film about priest abuse in Boston US. A good but scary film with a list of subsequent abuses at the end of it that were worldwide and as long as your arm - where protecting the church was more important than the children.

Let him without sin cast the first stone, but I never could understand why some Catholic priests have a predilection for their choirboys.
