    Coronation st

60 years ago was the ist episode, remember watching this with Mom. In the old days we only had a choice ITV or BBC, only one tele in the house and most people rented them, if they went wonky you gave the top a bang, if that didn't work it was a couple of days to the repair man come.
Back to Corrie has it's called know, haven't watched it for years or any other soap, used to be a good laugh with the Duckworths and Eddie Yates. From what I hear from the dining room, my watches all the soaps, they all sound the same a shouting match.

It's run it's course. The only people who live in street's like that today are Eastern Europeans, twenty to a house and the Rover's would be a takeaway or an old people's home.
    Miss Nugent my arse.

Just how many times can you marry the same person or five people in the way that s l u t s like Gail and Deirdre did?

How many “real lives” involve everyone from the same street meeting at their local every lunchtime and night?

How many murders would you expect in one average U.K. street?

The reason these programmes once worked was because of the humour in them but that went years ago.

    What a sad c u n t William Roache ( Ken Barlow ) is though.

    Call yourself an “actor” FFS?

You’re knocking 89 and have spent the last 60 years playing ONE part.......yourself!

Not exactly stretched his abilities has he?

    Utter garbage......every last soap is now c r a p!

They always go to the pub to have a row in front of everyone. Even when they are broke and have no money they go to the pub every lunchtime and evenin.
Ken Barlow drinks half pints. What type of bloke goes to a pub for half a pint?
Corrie was good when it first started a slice of life gritty northern drama, but it's had it's day.

What’s more worrying is that people know so much about it!

When it first came on our screens those of us of an age were just kids. There were only two channels then so choice was very limited and most of us watched it with our parents.

I know how long it been going Des, I recall being tucked up in bed as a nipper and hearing the opening theme tune, it was only on twice a week for years as I recall, when I was growing up. And then, as I grew a little older seeing the likes of Ena Sharples on the screen, she would likely scare most kids out their wits today to the point they would require counselling, well they don’t make em like that today that is for sure. It is still very popular today I guess just a load of old nonsense, like most tv I guess.

My original comment referred to the knowledge of those who don’t watch today’s ‘Corrie’ but are so knowledgable of the storylines and characters of today. Some closet watchers me thinks.

I was five years old when it first came on. I went downstairs to see if Santa had been and my dad said Coronation Street hasn't finished yet.
I haven't watched it for about 25 years the same as the rest of the soaps.
I always thought Brookside was the most realistic of them all, but that went over the top in the end.
