Just heard an announcement about a public health emergency on the radio.

Seems that it's now being stated as fact that 1 in 3 people have Covid-19 and don't know it. Now, less than 10% of all people tested have been positive so how exactly have they come to the conclusion, and how can they claim for fact, that 33% of all people have it?

I think there will be an explanation based on the statistics.. The expression there are lies, damned lies and statistics is based on the problem that unless you have all the numbers you can't judge what the statistic means.

NOw you know that will not be true. There will be some mathematical formulae behind the calculations. The point is its all surrounded with assumptions and they are the bits that can be debated. Wish there was someone who could explain what maths and assumptions are being made to support the calculation of the r number. Its the lack of clarity and the chopping and changing the figures into percentages, so many per thousand etc that irritates me

As you seem to be an expert on every topic discussed on this board I look forward to you telling us how many people have died solely from the Covid-19 virus in hospitals throughout Scotland since the start of the lockdown on 23rd March 2020 until 31st December 2020 inclusive.

I have previously posted on here that when I had my first Covid-19 test in Kings Cross Hospital at the beginning of last June which was negative I had a discussion with the Public Health Scotland doctor who told me that the health authorities expected that 7% of the population would contract the Covid-19 virus. That did not mean that they would all die from it nor did it mean that they would die solely from the Covid-19 virus. However Nicola and the dentist are giving the impression that all the people who have died in Scotland have died solely from the Covid-19 virus which is a lot of nonsense.
Nicola despite what she says is lapping up being on the BBC1 in Scotland from 12.15 -1pm every day from Monday to Thursday. she is rarely on the TV as politicians throughout the U.K. including Holyrood never work on Friday.
It is also ensuring that the Alex Salmond investigation is not headline news when it should be.
